1911 is the main stay, but what about the Pardini? I think its the GT45.
Pardini has made quite a name for themselves in air, 22, rapidfire and free pistol. How does the GT45 compare to a Les Baer?

probably bullseye, but being a newbie, I don't really know the different restrictions for USPDA , IDPA, pin shooting...?

I know some folks that shoot the Pardini .45 in Bullseye. I HATE the doctor sight. I would toss that and put the Ultradot 4-dot on it. It shoots well enough but I don't like the large grip (built on a double-stack design) and I'm not a fan of the trigger. Although, the 2-stage adjustable trigger is great in .22 for me, I just prefer a single stage roll trigger.

See if you can find someone in the area clubs that have one and shoot it.

Also, Don Nygord passed away and Larry Carter took over his design. Larry is a top notch gunsmith. But I think he's been too busy to get a decent turn around on his work.

I know a guy who shoots one for Bullseye competition.

The pistol was originally designed for more action-pistol sports, but he does well with it. He said that he prefers the Pardini because the larger grip fits his hand more comfortably than a standard 1911-pattern gun would.

I've considered one, but spare parts, extra mags, grips, and other accessories aren't nearly as easily had as for a 1911.

Well, that, and they're spendy.
