I need a good holster in a hurry to use while the two I have on order are being made which will take a while. I figured I would diversify and try an IWB holster. I have two OWB's on order, one from Sparks and one from Blade-Tech, I currently have a Galco MCII shoulder rig, which works a lot of the time but isnt the most comfortable thing in the world, especially after my shoulder surgery. Comptac has the CTAC ready to ship (which is rare for a left hand model) and this model looks like what I had in mind. Does anyone have any experience with this holster or Comptac in general?

I've got one. Very comfortable for a Kydex IWB. I like the adjustable cant so you can get it just where you want it. Conceals well too. I can conceal a Springfield XD .40 Sub-Compact with just a T-shirt.

Comp-tac's products are top notch.

CTAC is a great holster if you need to tuck it. If you don't need to tuck at all, i'd recommend the Gurhka instead.

The fellow who runs comp-tac is also top notch. If you don't like it, return it, no questions asked, though he will do his best to fix whatever you didn't like about any of his producks

Comp-tac is a great company and the CTAC is a pretty good holster. I can't get mine just right, but my brother-in-law gets them for everything.

I have two Comptac holsters, and they are very good quality.

However, the CTAC doesn't fit me at all when carrying IWB at 3 o'clock. It's much wider at the bottom of the holster than most IWB holsters due to the adjustable mounting system. Because of that, I could never get it into a comfortable position that would also provide for decent concealment. The front belt clip would always intefere with my leg movement due to width. YMMV though. I had no problems with the CTAC in the 4 o'clock position, but I don't carry that way.

The 1911 one also has a large ridge at the top of the holster. I'm guessing it's to provide space for extended slide releases. Either way, it's rather uncomfortable as it digs into the body right at hip level. Didn't have problems after I lopped it off, but you shouldn't have that problem as a lefty.

Nitrogen, can you tell me why you recommend the Gurhika instead? It would be nice to be able to tuck, but in all honesty I have never had a tuckable holster for any gun that actually allowed me to tuck anything in. So while that was a bonus of the CTAC, I am not counting on that being a real feature.

comptac in general is good to do business with. I had a ctac & did not like because I could not get enough cant on the holster at the highth I wanted it.
I have one of their infidels & really like it. That one can be had in a tuckable also. Their turn around time is excellent.

I like 3-3:30 IWB carry. The clip bothered me too. That is why I put the setting to the highest hole and cut the clip on my old CTAC.

I use an Infidel now from Comptac and like it better than the CTAC. I use the belt clip version for easy on and off and find that it tucks the gun into the body better than the CTAC. If I need tuckable I can order a Shirt Tucker strut. There are plenty of other modular accessories available for this model.

Like all Comptac gear, it is very well made.

I have a Comp-Tac for a SIG P226, to practice draws with a replica airsoft P226. Here are my opinions:

1) The Comp-Tac is very uncomfortable for IWB carry of a full-size pistol like a P226. This probably won't be so much of an issue with a more compact gun.

2) When I adjust it for the rearward angle I like, the rear belt clip is too close to the holster. This issue will also probably be resolved by a smaller gun (if the holster is smaller and the adjustables stay the same size).

3) The customer service is very good. These are friendly reliable people, and they helped me with my overseas order.

My conclusion is that the product is good quality and the company provides good service, but be aware that a large gun in an IWB Comp-Tac holster is a recipe for a very uncomfortable carry.

I really like the Infidel, but they dont make it for my model of gun yet, and like I said I need this one in a hurry :(

I have a CTAC and love it. Conceals my G20/29 better than anything else I've tried. Great service, too. I think Comp-Tac and Sidearmor are about as good as it gets w/ Kydex.

Did you call them? Even if they do not list the gun on the webpage, they may make them. If they make it in a CTAC, I am pretty sure they will make it in an Infidel.

If you need a holster in a hurry, Comptac is damn fast too.

I ended up going with the CTAC, after talking to Comptac, it sounded like it fit my needs a bit better than the two others I had considered. I didnt ask about the infidel because I didnt think about it....hopefully the CTAC will work...crossing my fingers!

The CTAC will serve you well. You'll like it.

However, you may end up ordering more Comptac gear...it's hard to stop at one item from them ;)

This will be my first non leather holster...Im hoping it doesnt squeek as much as leather :D

I've got 3 Comp-Tac holsters for my P229. One each of the C-TAC, Shirt Tucker, and Undercover, depending on mood and need. The C-TAC is what sees daily duty for the most part. It's secure yet draws slicker than owl snot. I'm fairly skinny and Texas is hotter than it is cold, and the C-TAC, for me, is extremely comfortable. It does a fine job of concealment for me as well.

I need to get another ctac for my P220; maybe I'll start carrying it and gove the P229 a day off.

Of all the Kydex holsters I've tried and owned, Comp-Tac makes the best.

Regards,
Rabbit.

The gurhka is more comfortable with a bigger pistol, and is more secure, and doesn't seem to make my belt and pants sag as much.

I carry a Para 14-45 or a G21 in my CTAC's and love it. I'm 6'1", right a 200lbs and have no problems concealing it with or without tucking. Most of the time it's untucked, but I like having the option.

If your pants are sagging with your gun, get a good belt (like an akers gun belt or a wilderness belt) and the problem goes away.

I'm wearing mine at 4 o'clock right now, it's a comfortable rig and conceals well. No problems at all with all day carry. This is my second one. I have one for the XD SC I've had for about a year and I got a slide model for GLOCKS a few months ago since I've got a couple different models. With the 26 I hardly notice it, with the 23 it can bother me a little depending on where I swing the spare tire :p I don't consider them really that tuckable unless you like fiddling with your shirt and holster for 5 minutes after going to the bathroom.
I'm sure you'll be happy with it. Did you get standard clips or c-clips? I ordered the standard ones with the glock ctac since the c-clips were always slipping off and behind my gunbelt with the other one. The standard clips have worked great. Since they are modular you can order different clips and see what you like best, standard, c, v, or j- clips.

After all that my variant two's safety didnt fit! I didnt think about the safety being on the right hand side for the left hand model of the USP, and I guess either did Comp-Tac. At any rate they were very helpful and offered to refund my money and also check arounf for other manufacturers that make a holster for the V2 usp

I did some heat molding with the helpful advice of a few THR members and now it fits perfectly...in fact Im wearing it as we speak :D
