Lotsa places...
They were giving $100 bestbuy and target giftcards for each gun, no questions asked.

What made this time different? Any "Assault Weapons" would get you a $200 gift card:banghead::banghead: Aren't those illegal in CA?

Why don't they expand this sort of program and do a "Stolen Car buyback" to get those dangerous things off the streets? Most police chases do involve stolen cars.;)

I could use a new PC, maybe I should go buy up a bunch of barely running Jennings and Brycos and double my money. Those folks would believe they did some good, and I'd get a sick desktop. Sounds like a win-win.

But it would take some fine rifles off the market.

Let's stick W/ the jennings/ bryco / lorcin / Llama idea

If you're white, you really don't want to try to drive into Compton! It's likely you won't make it out alive. Seriously, it's the only time where I went to a courthouse with an instruction sheet that had a specific route laid out and warnings to not allow anyone to approach your car. Very, very scary area.

Have you ever been to New Jersey?

Compton has got NOTHING on Jersey city and Newark. believe me. :)

You couldn't pay me enough money to step foot in CA itself, let alone in Compton. The same goes for NYC. I've been to Newark, NJ..... aside from the fact that you can't pump your own gas, the air smells like fecal matter, and the water tastes horrible....... it didn't seem near as dangerous as several other cities that I have visited.

Let's see here . . .

How can we possibly get more racist and stereotypically prejudiced without actually resorting to slurs?

Just another way to funnel stolen tax money into a "feel good" program. Well... it feels good to folks who don't know any better.

But they still vote, and that's what Boxer/Feinstein/Schumer/etc. count on.

If it's the truth then it's the truth.

Ignoring the fact that it's a dangerous area for some people to be in doesn't make it any less dangerous.

It just means that you have your head in the sand.

Made a connection in Newark last year on Vacation. It does suck, race has nothing to do with it.:)

On topic. Not a fan of buy-backs, but honestly, do you really have a problem with a felon turning in an illegal weapon?

I saw that on the news the other day! I think that's a pretty good idea actually. The places that are giving the giftcards are bringing customers into their stores who may not have shopped their before. Not to mention the mark up that they have on their stuff, they're still coming out on top.

What I couldn't help but think was how many little "treasure" or "holy grails" those people are turning in that they have no clue how much are worth? And what's going to happen to them when they get turned over to the police? I wonder how many murder weapons in crimes are just getting handed over to the police for a $100 gift card? :what:

Maybe I'm naive, black market isn't something I have much knowledge of, but I'd assume that if you have to sneak around and do things illegally they would be significantly more expensive. How many felons are going to be turning in their guns for a measly 1-200 dollars?

I've been ALL OVER this country as a truck driver...and I can assure any of you that don't like what you're reading here that it is not racism...its the truth.

There are bad places for "certain people" to be...I have nearly had to fight my way out of more than one situation.

Some were in Laredo, Del Rio, Chicago, NYC, Detroit, Charlotte, Atlanta, Miami, San Jose, San Diego...and a few others.

I guess I was just lucky...and maybe a little too adventurous in my younger years.

It may not be politically correct to mention such things, but facts are facts. Some parts of some cities are very dangerous for people of any race, but even more so for for white people. To ignore that fact is foolish and unrealistic, not racist.

LOL, the truth is the truth. The area in question is predominatly black and latino. I'm latino and I'm not insulted in the least. Heck, I wouldn't go there or Newark if my life depended on it.

It wouldn't be illegal for me to post outside and offer $125 cash for anything I'm interested in would it? As long as I'm not trespassing....

Illegal? No

Smart? NO! In Compton, advertising that you have money (especially in a place where you know people of unknown charachter are bringing guns) is not very bright.

Illegal? Yeah, you're interferring with a police department program to get guns off the street.

But give it a shot and see of the constabulary can't find you some hot lights and a rubber hose.

What law would he be breaking?
