i've heard the name but i could not pick him out of a crowd.
also the last guy from arkansas was not a good thing in my book:D

Please understand, don't view my post as a slam of Condi. I firmly believe that she is the best thing currently on the radar screen as far as a Republican candidate goes. I think she is brilliant. I think she would do a good job, based upon what I've seen her do in her current role (most of the shortcomings of this Administration have little to do with her). I do not think she has 'failed upwards'.

However, I think the political hacks within the party will never give her a chance. That is a slam on party politics, not on her.

Remember the country as a whole has taken a leftward shift since last year. The last election proved that most people want Democrats in office.
That was not the lesson to be learned from the recent election. Conservatives got sick and tired of voting Republican only to have the country move steadily leftward the stronger the Republican position got. They stayed home or voted third party, which is why the Dems won. The message was that Republicans cannot win when they abandon their base. If they refuse to learn that lesson, they will continue to lose election after election. Based on your response above, it appears that you have been successfully plaid.

PS, Whoops, played.

You mean like a nice tartan? At least he wasn't paisley. ;)

In general, I tend to agree with that statement, though (that it was not a true shift to the left). Observe what happened to moderates in both parties:

Democrats: moderates won.

Republicans: RINOs lost.

While this is by no means conclusive, it helps support the idea that the country has not shifted to the left so much as it has grown annoyed with the major players and their track record on the right. For instance, where was the push for a balanced budget amendment in the past six years? That was always a major plank in the R platform...until they owned two of the three branches of government. Now? *crickets, crickets*

I cannot help but think that a real R agenda would play nicely. But so far we haven't gotten one, at least of late.

Sorry this is off topic, a response to "show me any politicaly-nationaly known white males that could do a better job!?"....it just pains me that folks would rather complain that we have no candidates than to actually research the good ones out there. There are things about Huckabee that I don't agree with, but having met the man and seen him in action, I think he'd make an excellent president. This guy gets it done.

Folks here might appreciate:

To keep my post on topic. Again, I'd vote for Dr. Rice. I can think of nothing better for this nation than having an educated, conservative black woman who might be gay win the presidency as a Republican. Everyone would have a reason to love and hate her at the same time!

I figure in her position, she must have had more intelligence about Iraq's weapons capabilities than most of the rest of the government. Therefore, I have to treat her statements leading up to the war as lies. I don't want another liar for president.

I know, anyone who goes up for the position has probably told some whoppers to get where they are, but I'd rather have one that's not quite so blatant.

Even intelligent people can become delusional and selective in information processing under stress. Look at the shuttle disasters. Is being delusional - lying? Interesting distinction, is it not?

Anyway - as I said before - I think Iraq sinks her. The GOP needs a clean slate of folks who maintained a reasoned position on it before the war started and weren't delusional cheerleaders.

Whatever Condi is or isn't she is no longer Secretary of State. James Baker has come back from the dead to become Zombie-in-Residence and push her back into the shadows. I feel for her, and I wish she'd tell him to go back to shilling for the Saudis through his law firm.

No offense is intended but unless we intend to break a very historical pattern here, none of these people would get the nomination or the presidency nor the VP. But if Condi put up a fight I would vote for her in a second she is the lesser of 3 evils.

Blue, pink, yellow, male, female, martian, pepsi drinker, or......

The only thing I want out of a President is a Leader that puts America first. The Constitution is the super structure upon which all else is built. These self-serving hacks, have of late, only furthered their agendas and disregarded the American public.

Voting for the lesser of two evils is NOT what this country stands for.

Looks like many of us (more than would've expected) support the idea...Anyone got a .gov email address for her?

Maybe a letters of support would help....

Mike Huckabee (from Arkansas) perhaps?

I'll second that. He not only supports concealed carry he carries himself. He promotes fishing as a way to keep kids out of trouble. And when the Democrats running the state legislature said the people of arkansas wouldn't mind paying higher taxes he started a "tax me more" fund for us to donate money to if we thought our taxes were too low. In a year it collected nearly $300. They didn't try to raise taxes again. He also supports national concealed carry legislation.

Other than him there are only 2 other republicans i'd vote for. Condi and Newt. The rest are RINO's at best.

Let her start a third party. Let her break decisively from Bush I and Bush II. Let her espouse a return to true American roots, among which will be Second Amendment absolutism. Let her give a voice to the millions of us who are tired of the scandals and the scamming and want the America that was supposed to be.

THAT might be interesting.

She has no future as George Bush's Great Discovery.
