So how come so many police departments are dropping the 9mm in favor of the .40 S&W?
No handgun can out-gun bad guys with rifles.Because 9mm couldn't out-gun bad guys with rifles

If there were such a handgun, that's what we'd issue to our troops in combat, instead of the M4.
If you "need" more power than a 9mm, you need a long gun, not a .45
I adisagree. Unless you are hunting something larger than a human a 9mm or .45acp should do the trick. A .40S&W or a .357sig really doesn't do anything more than those two time tested rounds. The .357Sig and .40 S&W do offer distinct advantages when penetrating through windows and car bodies. However, they haven't really proven to be any better at stopping human targets.Using that yardstick, I suppose someone could argue that if you "need" more power than a .380, you need a long gun, not a 9mm.

What can the Taurus PT-145 Millennium Pro do that the .40 S&W Walther PPS can't?
