While I may be mistaken I think that there are 2 independents in the Senate that will caucus with the Democrats which means the Demos have the majority of 51-49. If an independent can be brought over to the republican side then the senate is 50-50 with the VP having the tie breaking vote. Wonder if the Republicans are pondering this course of action.
 
Don't know about that, but this honestly could be a good situation for now-IF GWB grows a spine and uses the veto pen. Political gridlock is our friend.

Unfortunately, Bush has shown us that he'll pretty much sign anything that's not his own resignation.
