Very interested in the Kimber Micro 380 as a summer gun. I have never owned a Kimber but find myself attracted to the Kimber DC. Would love to hear from those familiar with this platform.

Interesting that you ask. So far as I can tell it is basically another P938, but comes with an aluminum alloy trigger and perhaps the mainspring housing as well. Those would both be improvements but what I'm not seeing is an all stainless model like the P238 HD. As a machinist for many years I'm not as rapturous as many about aluminum alloy, it doesn't compare well to stainless 416 or 4140.
If they DO offer an SS model I'd love to hear about it. I also wonder if my 416 stainless triggers drop in to the Kimbers, they are clearly a pivoting trigger like the Sigs and previous Colt Mustangs and before that the Star DK's.

I feel that the Sigs are safe to carry in condition one, so they should be a good carry weapon.

Being that fine motor skills are among the first to go during "fright und fight" response the single action are the worst tiny defensive guns one can possibly buy.

I've had one for a few months and really enjoy shooting the gun. I passed the gun around amongst my shooting friends and they were all smiles after firing a couple of magazines.

Why do you say that? Difficulty in getting the thumb safety off? To me it's easier to do it on a P238, where it's right under my thumb, than it is to do on a 1911, where I have to reach for it.

Or do you just not like SAO for carry? A lot of people don't.

I love the micro .380's and have 8 Star DK's, Sig P 238 (3 of them) , FI model D (15) Colt Mustang, Sig P 938 (9mm but a micro anyway) and a Kimber Micro. All of them are built on the same design and all shoot nice and easy as all are locked breech pistols. My Kimber looks the most like a baby 1911 and fits in my hand and points right on target, i have not had any issues with the pistol and it has devoured several hundred rounds of ammo. Ironically with the Sig, Colt and Kimber .380 pistols the magazines will interchange. They would work in the Star except floorplates are different. All of these pistols are super easy to conceal, i carry IWB and the weapon leaves no tell tale print.

Sounds like you have an outstanding collection of SAO micro .380s. I have two, a Colt Mustang and a SIG P238, and both make for great concealed carry guns.

I"d recommend not. Reason: Kimber

What? Are you suggesting that swiping a safety with your thumb is too difficult a motor skill under stress, much the same as pulling the trigger is too fine a motor skill?

I have several hundred rounds through my Kimber Micro and it has performed flawlessly. I bought it so I could retire my 1980's vintage Colt Mustang.

I am pleased with the Kimber.

I also have a Sig P238 from the first year's production and it has subtle design changes from the Mustang. But, for the most part, function and operation of the three are the same. In my opinion, the Kimber and Mustang have a more trim look when compared to the clunky slide of the P238.

Mustang magazines do not work reliably in my P238 as the followers present the bullet to the chamber at different angles. I have not tried the Kimber magazines in either of the other two.

Sorry I'll be no help I had bad experience with a Kimber 1911 and will never have another Kimber. I have 2 of he older Mustang They make a great carry pistol as would the new ones .
