...are a subject that crossed my mind for a blog at my site, but I figured I would rather discuss the topic here than post a rant about it. I know this is pretty much a topic that has been discussed before at THR, but I am adding a new twist, or at least a bit of a twist to the idea. I am wondering what out there in the world would you choose as a fun target that is new to the contemporary world situation; let's say within the past seven years (this century)? This leaves out things like GI Joe Dolls (not new to the contemporary world), little cowboys and Indian figures, M-80s, eggs, golf balls (unless a new version of the golf ball), old pieces of art, gallon 'water' jugs, tin cans, and so forth. It would include such things as: newly created art, brand new cars, targets of a new design or type, newly created toys or figurines, a new type of exploding or interactive target and so forth.
As for me I would like to shoot some of the newer, so called, art that I have seen. Chocolate Jesus comes to mind (please do not make this a religious or moral post) because a big piece of milk chocolate like that, and lousy piece of art, might look pretty neat getting shot to hell (no pun intended), and exploding all over the place. I just don't like it, and figure shooting it would be a good way to get rid of it, but then eating it might be more fun. There are plenty of other artworks I have seen, but I do not know there names - I work in the Chelsea section of NYC and have seen some real trash thereabouts.
I was also wondering what it would be like to shoot some of the newer robots that are out there in the world. Some are getting to the point where they might make decent targets ala Westworld, just cover em with rubber skin. What a neat reactive target they could make.
Also that stuff that is called goo or goop (or whatever) that kids play with. It is sort of slimy blobs of gelatinous material that sticks to things when they throw it, and that stretches really far. I would love to shoot it like ballistic gel, and have someone film it with high speed camera gear to see the effects. As a matter of fact, putting that into a gallon jug and shooting it might be fun. It would be neat to see it explode and then stick to whatever.
All the best,
Glenn B
