I have a question about converting a Sig P365 in 9mm to 380.

Does the conversion require a new grip module, or will the standard P365 grip module for 9mm work?

The reason I ask is that Sig sells a conversion kit that includes the grip frame, and I am not sure why they would if the standard frame worked.

All the dimensions will have change including magazine geometry, location of mag catch, the slide stop, and the internal dimension of the frame for the 380 magazine.

The magazine-to-feed ramp distance and overall alignment to the barrel has to be 380 dedicated in order to have good bullet feeding.

Lighter springs throughout, different extractor profile and ejector length.

Looks like a neat kit, but $400 about buy a new 380 P365 won’t it?

I agree with just get another gun, even if its another 365 in 380.

I went through the "conversion" phase with a couple of guns over the years and came to realize, I only had one gun, usually in the configuration I liked, and a bunch of parts that ended up wasted money, that just sat in a box gathering dust.

And when you looked at what you had sitting there in the box money wise, for a few bucks more, a complete new gun, wasnt all that far off, and you would have another gun.

The conversion does not require a new grip module unless you are moving from a model with the larger grip module such as the P365 X or XL. See https://www.sigsauer.com/p365-380.html (below the specs). The dimensions and geometry don't change because Sig uses a 9mm magazine body that has a spacer in the back. (Many report that their 9mm magazines work fine in .380. Just be careful that you don't mix up your ammo and put the wrong ammo in either gun.) In looking at the conversion kit on Sig's webpage, you also can see that it does not come with a different slide catch release. https://www.sigsauer.com/cal-x-kit-p365-380-3-1-black.html

With that said, it's not worth it to buy the conversion kit. A new P365-380 only costs $100 more, which gives you a spare fire control unit. It also comes with two magazines, unlike the conversion kit, so that narrows the differential to about $55.

ETA: P.S. It's an awesome gun. I highly recommend it.

Not doubting your word, and really, the last thing I'd be interested in is this kit, but for the sake of clarity I've attached the kit info. It's interesting that the grip module is only $40 anyway, so not a big savings.

The slide stop is part of the fire control module, and it will be reused as a part of that unit.

Agree entirely. I've already accumulated a bunch of SIG spares.
The only good news, with the SIG, you can pony up for another Fire Control Module, and turn it to another gun.

I stand corrected. The grip module is the same for 9mm and 380. Here's a pretty one.

I like stainless slides, so when SIG released the P365-380 with the stainless slide and robin's egg blue grip module, I bought one. I wasn't planning to keep that grip module anyway, but it was even butt-uglier than I was expecting it to be. Anyway, off with the module and the manual safety, and on with the Wilson Combat grip module, and here we are.
