Cops in New Orleans: "Give up your guns -- we need them!"

3rd pig, what's the story behind that?

Henry B, actually, I don't blame them for resigning one bit myself - this is NOT part of the normal level of danger which they *bargained for* with their given pay rate. So long as they're allowed to resign by law, and they don't get paid anything post-resignation, then I've got no problem with it. As for would I give up my guns to them as loaners - I posted above on that - yes, if it was a cop I knew and could trust to get them or their equivalent value back, sure. Otherwise, no way jose.

That's the larges load of fecal matter I've seen deposited on this board in a very long time.

Using that logic then every member of the armed forces that makes less money than a cop and joined up just to get an education and specialized training ought to be allowed to quit the minute they get orders to Iraq.

What! You say they signed up knowing they could go to Iraq? YEP! They did - just like the cops sign up knowing they might, some day, have to actually preserve the peace and put themselves in danger to do it.

The cops in NO that are quitting are scum - it's that simple. They should never be allowed to wear the uniform again - anywhere. :fire:

What ever happened to honor? I don't know but it sure isn't a part of the value system of some of the NO police force these days.

Well, its up there, but I still don't think it equals "raping for supplies". Still awaiting an explanation on that one.

Raping someone for their supplies isn;t that hard to figure out...someone who is enough of an animal to rob from someone in a crisis isn;t that far from sexually abusing a woman. What's so hard to figure out?

I'd be willing to give up my Hakim to any cop. You can;t really load it, but it's big and heavy so it would probably make a mean club.

as many have said, a police officer that I knew... yes.

otherwise, no. in a state like that, goods become currency, and those guns you have spent your hard time and money on obtaining, could be used to keep your family fed and safe through the trading of goods. paper money doesnt really help when there is nothing to buy... think of what most people in that situation would give for a gun if they did not have one..

you wouldnt even have to trade the weapons away... exchange services of protection in return for food or shelter.

Actually Werewolf, GGB specifically stated "If they are allowed to resign." So your military anology is inaccurate, because, as I can tell you from personal experience, you AREN'T allowed to resign, unlike LEOs. (I realize that Zeros are allowed to resign their commisions, but for us enlisted, such was not the case.)

And for all that "Ignoring their duty" tripe, my first and foremost duty is to my family. I am a husband and father first, even if I become an LEO. Perhaps those officers that resigned were privvy to info that you and I did not have concerning what a total abortion their command and control was. Perhaps they were told to do something that involved abandoning their families, in which case the proper response would be resignation. Now I am perfectly willing to except that plenty of them were duty-shirking cowards, but don't paint them all with that brush.

And anyway a true duty-shirker doesn't resign, they just disappear. Resignation takes a least a modicum of backbone.

I disagree--taking water from someone because you're dying of thirst is not anything like raping someone for their supplies.

If you want the water, you take it. Punch someone maybe. Push them down and force sex on them because you want a drink? That's a ridiculous excuse for vile behavior.

If you're raping someone in the superdome, it ain't because you need a drink. If you don't get that, I don't know how to explain it. That's just taking the welfare mentality to a whole new level.

"Embrace the Suck." That's just too funny! Thanks for making my day, hoss.

Would I surrender my weapons? Nope. Not obligated by law, and the fact that they are asking seems to indicate that I am better armed than they are and don't need to submit.

Want 'em? Molon Labe!

Watching a video clip of two female black cops looting a walmart was enough for me. No wonder they have anarchy down there. Man this makes most of the third world an option to visit. At least if a disaster hits you know you are on your own.

Shameful at best disgusting at worst.

I thought NOPD had cleaned up a lot from the days maybe 10 years ago when they had officers being sent to Death Row for murdering their partners while robbing banks on duty. Was that just cosmetic or did they improve?

A couple guys from our sheriff's dept are going to NOLA. 870's are the only dept. longarms so I'm loaning out a couple of my AR15's and an H&K.

Some officers who had been stranded on the roof of a motel said they were being shot at overnight.
   Sorry, but the first thing that came to mind was:

Action Targets!

Louisiana law enforcement in general and NOPD in particular does not arouse warm, fuzzy feelings for me. I hope there are some good apples in that barrel, and to those I offer my apology for this rude rejoinder.

Camies, sox..., Toilitries, Flashlights, a MIlitary ID, And Alabama CCW.

At One point Kevin Allen took me aside and said that if I:
"Would forget about the guns." he's let me go. I refused.
After telling me I was going to jail (They had let the others go with the exception of a Capt that was with us)
They striped me of everything (Even my belt) and Kevin Allen told me if I tried to get my stuff back He's 'Make sure' I was courtmartialed. (If I was guilty, why let me go?) But if I wanted to "Try" to get my stuff back he was a State Trooper at troop L. I was given my wallet back, which as far as I can tell is missing only my Military I.D. and CCW.
And Droped (At my request) at Bel Chase Air Station.

Joys of the English language...

...or, if English were more like math:

Quote:
There are people being raped and murdered in the Dome for supplies

HOW in the heck do your rape someone for supplies? Rape them for supplies??? Did you really type that?

I think it goes like this-- "There are people being (raped) and (murdered in the Dome for supplies)", although I think what is actually meant is this: "There are people being ((raped) or (murdered for supplies)) in the Dome."
