so im not lucky enough to have an ffl or c&r, so my rifle needs to be transfered to someone that does.

what should i be expecting to pay for the transfer? does the paperwork cost something, or is the transfer fee all profit for the licensee? there are plenty of FFL's in the area.

thanks

My local pawn shop charges $15. Other gun stores in town charge anywhere from $25 to $50 per transfer and one place charges $35 plus a percentage of the weapon's value.

I wouldn't pay more than 25$. The local gunstore here charges 75$. In case you can't guess, i've never transferred a &&*+& thing through them

Around me the only place that does transfers cost $75. I use them b/c if I bought anything thru them it'd cost me $200 bucks or more anyway so I figure I'm still saving $125 :banghead:

around here transfers cost $25-35, I just got my FFL, I'll be doing transfers for $15.;) doin' my part to promote this hobby. local gunshops might run me out on a rail:D

I've been charged as little as $25 and as much as $50 for FFL transfers. Personally I would shop around for the best price, if youre a good customer and the shop knows you they may cut you some slack.

You have to remember that most stores don't like doing transfers, it costs them time and effort and if they didn't charge anything it wouldn't be worth it to them to do it all. Stores would much rather have you buy from them than have you buy from someone else. I don't feel too reluctant about paying up to $35 but I agree any more than that and I think they are overdoing it.

I wish we could do it for THR and TFL members for nothing- but
unfortunately my boss won't allow that. I just enjoy meeting our
fellow members; but I guess thats on me, and not my boss~!

The last time I posted our new transfer fee of $50; I got flamed
badly by some of you. I hate it, but then again I don't set the
rates. If I were to transfer a weapon in myself, I feel sure that
I would be expected to pay the same thing you folks would have
too pay. ;)

The one I use only charges $10...she is the cheapest I have found in town. Most of the pawn shops and gun stores charge between $15 and $35.

In PA all handgun transfers have to go through an FFL. It is hard to find any near me that will do it for less than $35 + the $5 NICS fee.

Watch out for Scheels.....one guy told me $35, so I had a rare $2000 handgun shipped to them. When it arrived another employee informed me it was going to cost $50. Might have been only $15, but not honoring your word says a lot about a business.

There are a couple of shops in town(Renton, WA) that charge $35 for a transfer. If I want to drive about five minutes south, there is a pawn shop that will do the deed for $20 (and they ADVERTISE that!). Good people there, and the last time I needed a FFL for shipping to them, I was handed two forms, one was for the next handgun I want to transfer through them. Not a problem. You know who has my business.
