I have seen and bought receivers from 25 to 45 dollars, both 1100 & 870, depending on how stripped and what condition.
I am working on a real nice 870 WM Magnum right now that was 40.00 but stripped to the point of only having an ejector in place. The blue was nice though.
Reminds me of my model airplane days!
Remington's price for an 1100 receiver is $273.00 checked this summer as I was contemplating building an 1100...
What I ended up with was a used, 70's vintage, 1100 Magnum Duck Gun (30" full choke VR) that was priced right at the price of the receiver--seemed no one wanted a no-steel shot, full choke gun that would not handle target loads.
But the Lego approach to shotgunning paid off...with a couple of spring replacements and some shopping for under appreciated fixed choke barrels it's quite the versitile shotgun.
With 6 million potential donor guns out there...have fun.
That is about the right price--here, Houston, that gun would have had a 350-400 dollar price tag on it and only with a lot of negotiation would it have come down...I am not sure what drives 1100 prices in Houston, but it is a rare day to find one in line with Blue Book values....
Yours was a particularly good deal from what I've seen in Houston.
