Most people think of slavery as abject misery but, provided you did not have a cruel master, there are some real positive benefits. As a slave all you really have to do is the work you are assigned. You would be provided with all the basic necessities such as food, clothing and shelter. You would never have to worry about paying bills. No responsibilities, no worries.

No way! you say?

What if your master actually let you decide what type of work you did? Suppose instead of picking cotton you could do the same kind of work you do now? And further suppose you only had to work at it 40 hours a week?

Still not ready to sign on? Let's sweeten the pot.

Suppose your master were to give you a cash allowance? Instead of having to live in the slave quarters, you were allowed to keep HALF of what you produced so that you could have your own place and cover the cost of your basic necessities.

Now does that sound like a good deal? If you now earn an average income of around 53K, thats EXACTLY what you have. Once you factor in all the taxes you pay, Federal income tax, state income tax, Social security withholdings, sales tax, property tax, taxes on gas and your phone bill, government caused inflation of printed money and all the taxes on businesses that are passed on to you in the form of higher cost, you ultimately pay HALF of your income to our "masters" in government.

Something to think about, OS

But more and more I believe that I am contrary to the consensus.
