country plinking in central ohio

I will be there for sure, although most likely not till around noon. My car threw its serpentine belt this afternoon on the way home so I gotta run to the Midas to get it replaced in the AM before the 2 hour drive. Stupid thing needs its engine mounts loosened and the engine dropped a bit to get at it

I haven't been there in years, but I used to go to the Harrison county reclamation area (former strip mine) and shoot for free. I don't know if it's still there, but it might be worth investigating. It was a pretty long haul for me (up near Cleveland), but would be certainly accessible from central Ohio.

Ah jeez. I just noticed this thread. I hope you guys have another get together soon, Id love to hook with some fellow Buckeye THR'ers. Anyone else in the Dayton area? My local range is the one in Spring Valley Ohio, perhaps another meet can be made. This weekend wouldnt have been good for me anyway.

Well, the after action report is like this....
There were two THR folks on the range today, counting me. Stood around a while wondering if anyone was coming at all, but luckily airmonkey showed up and we headed back to the range. Even tho only one guy made it, we still had a great time and had the run of the place to shoot and goof off. The weather was great, and I made a new shooting buddy.
As for the next THR shoot at my place? Dunno if I'm in the mood to hang out another invite just now. I extended the invite because it looked like there was a lot of interest, and few places to do it. I got a healthy number of responses from people saying they would be here. A few cancellations, but mostly people just didn't show. That's ok I guess, but I spent a week cleaning the range up and sat on my back porch loading mags waiting on a shoot. I met a good guy today, but I also saw that very few people on this board really want a shoot...not enough to spend a saturday making it happen. It wasn't even my idea anyway, was just trying to help out.
Shame everyone missed it. It was a great day to throw lead and hang out. At least I made one new friend.

Wish I could have been their but like I said on a previous post I work saturdays and it can be difficult to get off. If you ever do one on a sunday their is a much better chance for me to make it. Glad you had a good time.

That's rude of them. I came to the thread late, and I had already thought about asking other buckeyes from THR to meet - always looking to touch base with other gun owners and see if anyone else has some rifles I might be interested in - not to mention it is nice to have other gun owners around who keep up on the gun politics, as a poor informed or lazy gun owner will have bans thrust upon him before he knows what hit him.

Swingset's Range was AWSOME!!! If I ever get enough land I want to do something very similar at my place. The shooting was great, especially for my first time out this year. I didn't get there until about 1:30 (my wife had an ultrasoud in the a.m.) but we still got about 4 hrs. shooting in. all in all it was a great afternoon and I got to see swingset hit a steel swinger at 200 yrds. with a .22 lr. semi. pistol. Wow!

If I had been paying attention, I would have requested it off and been there, Sorry. If you consider planning another one for late summer or early fall, I could try to get together a small gaggle of friends. They should really put in a PM feature that OP's can use to notify thread watchers in instances like this.

I sent you an email about it saying I wouldn't be there, hopefully you got it. I was really, really looking forward to this shoot.
My car ended up being a seized alternator, which is why the serpentine belt threw in the first place. So I had to hunt down an used alternator from a junkyard and get it in (which was a pain in the butt because of all the extras in the way) By the time I finished up with the car it was around 2:30 and its about a two hour drive for me to get down to your place.
