Midway had these UTG quad rails with locking screws on sale so I got one... my Bushnell Trophy sight is so large that when I mount it on the flat top there's no room for a BUIS rear sight. So I was wondering...

Yeah it's front heavy and that fore end feels like a 2X6 or like the M-4 handguard was swivelled sideways. Still, it's stable and 'locked down' with no perceptible movement.

Crazy? Probably. I just wanted to see how it looks/works. If I hate it I'll sell the quad rail fore end and stick with my 4x fixed scope.

Looks neat. But looks kinda front heavy. But hey, if it works for you... :)

Just putting something into the mix: all of the BUIS I've seen under ACOG's and ACOG style scopes are under the scope, and only seem to be there in case the scope fails.

What I like about the carry handle mount for my 4 x is I can look under it and use my sights. This was just a hmmmmm idea. It's a far cry from my K.I.S.S. idea but I shot all season with the 4x fixed. I bought this scope at the same time.

So is it safe to assume that eye relief at that distance is not a problem?

Not crazy. And you have the ultimate BUIS! I have a similar/same UTG quadrail and it's surprisingly good quality for the money. If you drop the UTG rail covers and install ladder covers it will feel dramatically smaller and more reasonable to hold.

ms, that's a red dot sight so eye relief is a non-issue.

With the small apeture there's a difference, with the large one you don't even notice a thing. I'll have to shoot it with this get-up a few times before I say 'yay' or 'what was I thinking?'
