Original Story

Dateline Tampa, FL
A man was arrested after police say he shot two people at a Hartline bus stop Tuesday afternoon.

Police say Davon Olajuwon Church, 18, shot Teodoro Ferrer, 75, and David Thomas, 42, at a Hartline stop on Waters Ave. after Church tried to steal Ferrer's adult tricycle. According to the police report, Church punched Ferrer in the face after Ferrer confronted him. Thomas came over to assist Ferrer, which is when police say Church pulled out a gun and fired at least eight shots.

The suspect was apprehended after he ran into a nearby tobacco store. He surrendered after speaking with a deputy by phone. Deputies said he gave no motive for the shootings, and that he said tossed the handgun into the woods as he was running from them.

Ferrer was shot in the lower leg. Thomas was hit in the left shin. Both men were taken to St. Joseph's Hospital.

Church was taken to Orient Road Jail. He is charged with two counts of attempted murder, attempted armed robbery and elder abuse. Bail has been set at $19,000.

He wanted the adult tricycle...like a bicycle but with 3 wheels that older folks in the area seem to favor.

I am glad the 2 gentlemen involved where not killed, I guess the critter was holding the gun 'gangsta style'. The bail amount seems kinda low though for a double attempted murder though.

Punching a 75 year old in the face and trying to take his trikeey? When that doesn't work he ends up shooting him and the man who tried to come to the old man's defense? OMG this is just sad.

$19,000 bail???

***?

Well... it'd only be a couple of felony charges in my state. You wouldn't want to hold the poor misunderstood "victim" who obliviously had a poor up-bringing responsible for his actions, would you? After all, he's not a criminal by choice.

It's clearly the gun's fault. :banghead:

It's b.s. , no wonder people assume they can do what they want, we give them a slap on the wrist when they do wrong and then attempt to come up with a million justifications for their actions. How about they are scumbags who if raised by parents you can bet your bottom dollar they are scumbags as well.

Where did this happen BTW? CA?
I wonder what will happen to this kid as far as sentence, time served etc.

ByAnyMeans, where from Queens you from? I lived on the corner of Union Tpke and Queens Blvd. Glad I got the h*ll out of there :)

8 shots..... 2 hits..... in the lower legs

thank god this dummy was a bad shot!

It does make one wonder IF..

IF the thug was a good shot and shot them in the leg and shin as opposed to more COM type hits, being just luck, or intent? (but not implying anything good about the BG's actions).. not at all.

IF our Justice System is ever going to start back-up-hill in favor of the victims and their RIGHTS, for safety, after the fact, along with the public's, when such thugs do such things and get-out on this kind of bail amount, and otherwise, short sentecnce terms and parole of such..

IF this is a sign of the times, as things just are gonna get worse for law abiding citizens/public and far easier for the BG's as they face, what it is appearing as, a weak, and getting weaker by the year, Justice System that is being tainted by Swaying arguments (via defence lawyers and ACLU) and who really knows; why "the_Judges" are supporting such, in their actions and sentences given out?

To me, it is an ever-ongoing example of those that live in glass-bubbles and have never had anything like this effect themselves, their family's, or friends vs those of us that live in "the real world".. everyday, all our lives.

Simply sad, is an understatement

When I read the title, I assumed that a deer or squirrel was taking revenge for years of genocide. You got my hopes up.

If someone shoots at another person point blank 8 times and only hits them in the legs, he probably wasn't trying to kill them. Judging by only this snippet of what happened, it sounds like ought to be charged on assault and assault with a deadly weapon.

Personally, I prefer to use the term critter for animals. You folks wouldn't be tagging a name on someone because of their race, are you?

8 shots and 2 hits?

why weren't either of the victims carrying? If they had ben this would be case closed and noone would have to worry about how low the bail is set.

As noted in another post - WHERE? It took some looking to find out it's in Florida.

OK. And why are we involved? What can we contribute to this?

There is obviously(?) something you think that THR members can provide, what is it?!

$19,000 bail???

I do not gamble...but I'd bet the suspect should have been in jail to begin with.

I stopped having much faith when I saw guys who admitted raping their own children hundreds of times get off with two or three years including time served.

Eric C. I'm currently living in Glen Oaks it's Union Tpke and Little Neck Pkwy. I used to live in Bayside in front of Fort Totten. I know your area a little. I used to bounce at a bar Backdrafts on Yellowstone Blvd. and Queens Blvd. Then of course there were a few "gentleman" establishments on Queens Blvd I have frequented.

Really, I kind of thought the Date Line, Tampa, Florida was a pretty good clue.

Because we are a bunch of busy-bodies and like to gossip.

Discussion of the topic as it concerns the state of our decaying cities, further discussion as it might affect our civil rights when the anit-gun people get ahold of this, and some gun related discussion in general. Lots of reasons come to mind. Perhaps, if you don't like the thread you might find it more satisfying to find another one rather than moderating this one.

Now on to my response about the shooting.

I am not particularly surprised that 8 shots were fired and only two hit, and both were low. The man who did the shooting was young and unable to own a handgun legally: he most likely had never fired it before that instant. He had no idea, other than what he had seen on TV how to shoot a pistol. He's probably lucky he didn't shoot himself as he was pulling the weapon out of his pocket.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, "Bullets don't go where you want them to go, they go where they are aimed."

Hope this little creep gets sent up for a very long time.

This is a great example of what our society has evolved to. If you have something that someone else wants, they simply take it from you by either stealing it or using strong arm tactics.

We seem to have a huge lack of respect these days for other people and their property.

If I so much as stole a pack of gum when I was a kid, my father would have made sure I was blowing bubbles with that gum out my rear end.

It really saddens me to see how society has evolved into a Me-Me world. I hate liars with a passion and I cannot stand a thief. But the very worst are those who abuse or take advantage of senior citizens.

Elder Abuse alone should be $19,000 bail.

That's actually a really good point. Florida has some of the toughest laws on the books against abuse of the elderly. Maybe the States Attorney could prosecute for that instead of armed robbery and ADW. The guy would probably go to jail for a lot longer if convicted.

Maybe we should write a letter to the States Attorney's office in Tampa.

It's sad that we will victimize this aggressive thug and make excuses all day long. It's his environment / upbringin / access to guns / exposure to rap music etc. etc.. Then we will attempt to pass laws all day to have as much government control over these things as possible. When this does'nt work we will ring our hands wondering what we did wrong and beg for more government intervention. BS The problem is p.c. crap. The kid deserves top be in jail and not on 19,000 bail.:barf: There is a better than average chance that this is not his first crime and he was probably treated with kid gloves then. What did he learn nothing except that he or someone else will spin his story any way necessary to keep him out of jail. The bleeding heart judges think it's their job to give these guys another chance but thats crap as others have aluded to and others threads have discussed you get people commiting the most horrendous crimes and get away with it without people calling them out for it. :cuss: I've got to go my blood pressure is through the roof.

Well the bail is ridiculously low. However, if I was trying to steal an adult tricycle; $19,000 probably would seem like $10,000,000 :neener: sucks to be a low-life sociopath with no future, I'm seeing bars and walls in his future and probably a long line of abusive boyfriends.
