KNOCK-KNOCK: Police in New Castle County, Del., say Jonathan Rodriguez,
17, Joseph Denham, 18, and Daniel Cote, 19, planned a home-invasion
robbery. But things went wrong when Rodriguez knocked on the house's
front door -- with the butt of a handgun. The gun went off, shooting
him in the groin. He was arrested at the hospital where he went for
treatment, along with Denham, who apparently drove him there. Cote was
arrested separately. "This is one you'll hear about in the bizarro
files about one of the world's dumbest criminals," said county police
spokesman Trinidad Navarro. (Wilmington News Journal) ...

LOL

I hope he did the world a favor and shot off his ability to reproduce. That would save us all the problem of shooting his offspring.

Tag line used by another poster, on another forum, applies here - "The most common sexually-transmitted disease is stupidity". If their daddys didn't "bag" them, we may have to.

Suspect shoots self in groin, flees

Three teenagers had to abort an attempted home invasion near Newport early Saturday when one of the assailants accidentally shot himself in the groin, New Castle County police said.

Jonathan Rodriguez, 17, was in stable condition Saturday at Christiana Hospital from the single gunshot wound. Rodriguez, of the 100 block of East Plover Drive in Bear, shot himself as pounded on the door with the butt of a handgun, county police spokesman Officer 1st Class Trinidad Navarro said.

"This is one you'll hear about in the bizarro files about one of the world's dumbest criminals,'' Navarro said.

Navarro said the attempted robbery occurred about 12:30 a.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Matthes Ave. in Elmhurst. The home's resident told police he was watching a movie with a few friends when they heard banging on the front door.

"The door started to bulge and the glass broke,'' Navarro said. "So the people inside bolted out the window. At that time they heard one of the suspects claim he had been shot.''

The three assailants fled in a blue Chevrolet Lumina. The resident called police, and several officers drove to Christiana Hospital to search for the car and the suspects. They found the car in the parking lot.

Joseph Denham, 18, of the first block of Curlew Circle in Bear, was arrested at the hospital without incident. Denham was taken to county police headquarters, where he told police he and the others had planned to rob marijuana from the home, according to the arrest affidavit.

Later Saturday, police arrested Daniel Cote, 19, of the 1500 block of Bonridge Road, near Elsmere.

Rodriguez was being treated in the emergency room at the hospital, where he underwent surgery for his injuries.

The three teens were charged with first-degree attempted robbery, possessing a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, burglary and conspiracy.

Denham and Cote were sent to Gander Hill prison in Wilmington in lieu of $25,000 secured bail. Navarro said Rodriguez would be arraigned upon release from the hospital.

Must've had a VERY odd grip on the pistol to hit his groin while beating on the door...sounds to me more like he was putting it in/out of the front of his pants w/finger on trigger...

Probably holding it by the barrel/slide like sometimes seen in the movies to whack things. If indeed that is the case, and it wasn't equipped with modern safety devices, it very well could have just gone off.

Sissy shoots himself then goes to the hospital for the medicos to patch him up. He should remember the immortal words of Sgt. Barnes: "Take the pain!" :)
