Hey PB...perhaps you should save your money and invest in an online typing course. Your OP definately needed some typing/grammer help.

It will be pretty tough to get a true custom rifle for under $2,500. You can get a nice Remington action with some smith work and an AICS for your budget, but you will need to pony up if you are going the GAP route.

Hahaha, about the online typing course, but I do know what you mean, and btw I'm not buying GAP, their great, but WAY out of price range. I'll probaly buy the SPS tac. And go from there.

Hey PB Walsh.. went out and shot my SPS tactical today.. And the results were great for me.. Sure maybe not what a $5000 rifle MIGHT get me ( but I think the gun will out shoot me in this prone position)

Shot it off a harris bipod, prone, calm winds, Federal Gold medal match 168 gr. ammo.. I love this gun.. And all for under $1000 including the scope and scope mount:) Nikon buckmaster 4.5x14x40, deadnutz mount

I know the elitest folks will say "junk" or "buy the custom rifle" but frankly for the money I am so happy with this gun..

this 200 yard 5 shot group is 1.29" and the other 3 shot group I shot was under 1" at 200 yards.. the other 4 groups I shot where at 100 yards today and just as fun

it is free floated, when you put a bipod on it it lightly touches in the front..I clearanced it in about 5 minutes. Now it clears all the time.. My first 3 shot 200 yard group today was sub .5 moa as well as many of my 100 yard groups.. now what you need to under stand this is all off a bipod and my shoulder.. not with bags front and rear.. I have another thread going here.. look it up too.. there is alot of info on these.. also there is one for sale new in the forsale section here now also..

1st groups with this setup, on a dirty barrel (20rds before without cleaning)

IMHO ValueWise, You cant beat the SPS Tac in 308...

What are your reload recipes, Powder?, primer? and what not.. Nice looking rifle.. I like the stock

Reload recipe... lets see... here is what I do... I pull out the old wallet, and hand the man behind the counter some cash, he then hands me the box of ammo!!!

:neener:
I dont reload.... YET! soon...

that is with factory ammo the top group is cheapo stuff, the bottom is expensive...

and thanks, I love the stock!!!

I have $550 in the the rifle,
$75 to the stock
$279 in the glass
$25 rings
$15 base
$75 for the Bipod
$10 for the sling...
About $1000

But, That is ready to shoot, done deal, out the door!

I honestly thing these guns brake in, I keep getting better and better groups...

How many rounds do you have down the tube? I seem to think the same thing as far as getting better.. I still want to put mine on bags front and rear to get my groups even better. But I will not complain with 1.29" at 200 yards for a five shot group.

I too have only shot factory ammo.. but all my reload stuff is going to be here tomorrow.. trying to get a few differant ideas to use for my first reloads

Where did you get a stock like that for $75?:)

Nice!!! You'll have to tell me how it works out after you start reloading! I just scored some Federal SMK 168's for 24.99 a box local!!!!! All I could afford was 4 boxes because I just picked up 5 boxes of 150gr softpoint crap ammo for hunting/ stockpile because they were 13.99 a box.... so now Im up to about 220rds of 308 ready to go down the tube!

I have about 100 through mine, You?

I got the stock on GB labled "gunsmiths special" it had been butchered up to try and fit a Badger bottom metal.
I was expecting to have to do alot of work, when I got it, It only needed about 1/8" filled in about 1/2" deep just around the bottom metal, so the stock remington still fit, the top half was Intact. I used some Loctite brand A/B putty... I threw it away after i used it on the stock!! it just crumbled apart... The Aluminum pillers are intact they did not go that deep. I am just going to cut a notch all the way around, and then bed my BM with some AcraGlass Gel. And Even if I end up putting 5 Hrs in to the stock I still got a Great deal!!!! He had it for $50 I emailed him with a $75 offer and BAM!!!

Now Im just looking for a Used but not beatup Pelican 1720!!! Hopefully in tan!!!!

I have about 100 down the tube I am guessing.. I could go count my brass and see.. but it is close to that plus or minus a few:D

Sounds like you have been having fun with your stock.. Keep us posted on how your development goes.. I got some of my goodies today so it should start getting real fun around here soon..
