B27, yup, that one works, thanks. Their cz-usa site finally came back up. Unfortunately, they state in their FAQ that they currently have no left-handed actions, period. I sent them an e-mail encouraging them to at least try the market.

Probably is a substantial investment to start producing LH actions though...:(

Yes, we have indeed! On the other hand, I always wanted an Anschutz! :D

Gonna take me substantially longer to save up for this one...

How much are the Anschutz - as if I need another bolt action 22.

I wrote CZ-USA about that last year

They said they had no plans for anything LH. Ditto Kimber.

Yup, I got confirmation by e-mail just days ago: No plans for anything left handed yet.

One of the knowledgeable folks at a local gun shop seems to think that CZ is considering tooling up sometime next year for LH actions, but I'm not holding my breath...:scrutiny:

Chugach;

Yup, went through the same thing myself last year. I've decided that I'm buying absolutely ZERO right hand bolt guns anymore. If they can't be bothered to meet my needs, I can't be bothered to give them money. Doing anything else only encourages them to ignore us. So, with that little rant off my chest - .

Last year I bought a Savage MKII left hand bolt .22LR. I paid about $135.00 for it, blue, wood stock. An extra magazine was under $10.00.
I've fiddled around with it, dismounted the action, cleaned all the excess 'hair' outta the inletting & free floated the barrel. Added a pillar to the mounting screw & generally did minor things to the appearance of the stock.

It's wearing a Tasco 2.5X10 A/O mil dot scope - don't buy one, the optics are good, the windage & elevation settings are not consistent or repeatable. But then it was only $65.00 to the door.

It's a nice little plinker that I don't have a lot of money into. About a 50 yard small game gun. That may change with the addition of a better scope though.

[rant] If only rifle manufacturers would be intelligent enough to use tang, Garand-style, or near-ambi safeties! I absolutely hate cross-bolt safeties...in fact, I wouldn't even like them if I was right-handed! [/rant]

I checked the LH Savage out at a gunshop earlier this week. Actually looked pretty nice. Guess it would be too much to expect that Savage would offer a .22 with the Acu-Trigger, huh?

Chugach;

Uh, I don't think it's going to happen at that price range. Actually, the trigger isn't bad. No, it's not target quality, but mine's certainly acceptable.

If I may, I'll give you some background on that acceptable trigger comment.
I've shot NRA small bore indoor & got all the gongs, used a Rem 40X-B .22lr.
I have a number of other .22lr's including a full-on Volquartsen done by Tom in his shop in Carroll Iowa. That has a truly excellent trigger. The Savage is just fine for the gun's purpose of all-round plinker & 50 yard game-getter.

Some judicious diassembly & use of Break Free CLP on the moving parts helps also. This is not in the area of the 'demon tweak' by the home gunsmith, this is just take the bolt out & the stock from the action stuff. Study it & there is nothing you can't figure out.

In my opinion, they are nice little guns well worth the money. By all means PM me if you get one & want a detailed run down on what I've done.

CB900F, thanks for the offer and I'll follow up if I buy the Savage. I'm definitely not into "demon tweaks" (LOL), but I've also shot scoped .22LR's with a 2 lb trigger pull, and it was if I couldn't miss. I have no rifle with anything less than a 6 lb pull currently. As I get older, I seem to be reverting to childhood pleasures, and the idea of an accurate, adult-sized .22 with a decent trigger is irresistable.

I'm equally interested in what all you did to free float the barrel, so I'll definitely give you a shout if I go with the Savage.

Best,

David
