Hi all,

I just bought this rifle on Gunbroker!

I need advice on scope rings and or bases that will clear the bolt. Should I just get rings or rings and bases? I know the rifle has built in bases, but I was wondering about a picatinny rail. Exactly what brands and specs would you recommend? If you could provide exact part #'s and sources that sold be much appreciated.

I have not chosen a scope yet. Given the issue with bolt clearance, what size bell and tube size would you recommend?

Thanks for your help!

Chris

Cbmax, I would recommend Warne "medium' rings. To use them you will need to have the bolt handle recontoured. It is a simple task for a gunsmith and will add maybe $20 - $30 to the price you pay.

In exchange for this $20 the scope will line up with your eye where with "high" rings you may need a long face to get a cheekweld.

I don't know why CZ doesn't address this issue by simply making a more svelte bolt handle, but they don't for whatever reason.

Enjoy your new boomstick.

Yes the rifle will be NIB!

Stubby, can you tell me what is involved in having the bolt handle recontoured. Are we talking about bending the handle to change the throw or shaving material off the knob?

Can you give me a part number for the Warne rings?

I see that CZ sells a picatinny scope base for this rifle. Will this solve my problems?

Hey, I just ordered one of these, but with the Walnut stock. Can't wait for delivery. It's my understanding this model does *not* come with rings (only the American models do, I think).

Also been thinking a lot about scopes too. In my case, I'm looking at the Leupold VX-2 or 3 variable power by 50mm. I was going to go with high rings, based on my 550, and some rough estimates, but never got a great answer. Great timing on the thread, looking forward to the replies.

Rings are not included on the varmint models.

My 550 likes the Warne rings. Good quality stuff.

I am now looking at Bill Calhoun's bolt handle modification and hunker rings. I plan to contact him on Monday.
