I have a CZ-75b SA and a Sig P226. IMO, I like the CZ better, and use it for USPSA match shooting, but both point and shoot amazingly. I will never sell either. Sig is much easier to clean.

An opinion is one thing...telling someone to do something is another....if he wants someone to tell him what to do then I say keep the cz and never look back

Your assertion that a person shouldn't tell others what to do seems like an example of YOU doing the very thing you say others shouldn't do.

CZ's have been in the US since the 1980's, imported by Bausuka only 4 years after SIG opened their first shop in the US.

the websight i seen said 91 and cz usa started in 98,,,not sayng your wrong just letting you know what i found and y i believed it was the 90s

walt like me saying you shouldnt tell others what to do is exactly that telling someone what to do?...i would have to say that makes sense.. just thought it wasnt nice telling someone to do something like take the sig..me personally i would be the proud owner of either one

Like SIG Arms is not the first importer of SIG (Browning was the first importer, by the way), CZ-USA was not the first importer for CZ pistols.

Bausuka imported from the early 1980's until Action Arms took over.

Action Arms imported them until they folded, at which time Magnum Research took over. They imported them for a while until CZ-USA started up. For a short while, both imported CZ products.

My P228 is a 1991 made triple serial number (made in West Germany) Sig. It is a fine pistol. Reliable, and reasonably accurate. It is not as accurate as an SP-O1, my 75B, nor PCR. That is my experience, yours may differ.

..me personally i would be the proud owner of either one

Good point. I agree. I have both, and am proud of both.

For me, the SIG 228 is a better concealed carry weapon, but I don't shoot it as well as I shoot CZs... (As other have said, the P228 i's more like a P-01 or PCR than a full-size 75B. I've had a number of "compact" CZ and never really felt the love.) I haven't shot my 228 much, yet, and may get better results, over time.

My 228 had a complete makeover by Gray Guns before I bought it, and has the short-reset trigger and velvety CARRY trigger and action work. GG is one of the top SIG gunsmiths, and I'm impressed enough to consider having them doing other work on other SIGs, one of these days. (I was going to send them another SIG, recently, but there was like a three-month waiting period. I've since spent the money elsewhere. <Grin.>

I paid more for that USED P-228 than I would have for a new CZ or SIG... Seemed (and still seems) worth it.

I like both Sigs and CZ's. Look at it this way, you can always get another CZ, the Sig not so much.

I would get the Sig as the opportunity is there/here. Then when/ if you can buy another CZ.

It's easy to spend other folks money.:D

I want a Sig P210 but can't afford it so I am going to "make do" with CZ custom at half the price.

Tough decision - both are great guns. First time I held a Sig, I was hooked. Ditto with the CZ. But, the Sig p228 would win out in this case, based on personal preferences:
- the p228 is an very well balanced handgun, and very accurate.
- I prefer the manual of arms of the Sig
- they are not making the p228 anymore - they'll get harder to find, especially in very good condition, as time goes on. The CZ however is still in production, and you can eventually pick another one up if you like.
- a VG/excellent condition p228 can easily run $550 or more (at least in my area). So, assuming equal condition of the p228 and the CZ75 SP01, you could be getting a pretty good deal.

But, in the end, make sure the p228 feels right in your hand.
