I'm considering a new range gun and have it narrowed down to either a CZ 75 SA Target from the CZ Customshop or an STI Trojan 5.0, both in 9mm. They're about the same price ($1000) and I only intend to use it for range use, so what are the thoughts about these two guns? I know the STI is a 1911 and I don't have a 1911 in the collection but have a bunch of CZs and really like them (I have a CZ 75B, P-01, P-07 Duty, 75B Shadow, a 75B Phantom, and even a CZ100 - all 9mm). All input appreciated!

If you're going to try a 1911, the Trojan is one of the best choices in the $1,000 range. I've never shot the CZ, so I can't speak to it.

just a thought, because I was in a similar position: the witness elite match, and you've got an extra $450 to spend on extra mags, hennings parts, whatever.

If you want something different, get the 1911. I've always preferred the cz style platform in terms of feel.

All your existing CZ 75 mags (and I think Phantom also) will fit the "Target" and vice-versa. That's a big plus to give up.

The Custom Target will have a "very" good trigger and 19+1 cap with your Shadow MAGS.
The Target WILL have a firing pin block unless you have the Custom Shop remove it. With that removed the SA trigger is awesome.

I don't think it comes with an adjustable rear. The Shadow "T" does but more money and the heavier front end.

I'd be tempted to get the 1911 only because you don't have one yet and you do have several CZ's. Then again, if I'm getting a first 1911, I'd probably do it in .45acp and not 9mm. If you want a SA CZ, you may just try converting your 75B to the SA trigger that CZ custom sells. I hear very good things about that trigger and I'm in the process of installing it in my 75B LE.

All that said, the 75 SA target looks like a sweet gun. You really can't go wrong with that one, even if it's just "another CZ" for your collection. :D
