CZ 75 Tactical 19 -- compatible accessories?

I work in Iraq, and a Kurdish friend in the security business asked me if I could do him a favor while I'm stateside and pick up a holster and (if they make one) a Crimson Trace grip for his new gun (handgun accessory stores being scarce thereabouts). Sure, I say.

Then I look at his gun and go, "Hmmm."

It's a CZ 75 Tactical 19. They don't sell it in the US. My friend says he picked it out from CZ's Turkish website. I am not a CZ guy, so I don't know what this is a version of -- the SP01? 75B? -- or if it matters in terms of purchasing CZ accessories, so I figured I'd ask you guys for help. It's semi-auto 9mm, no decocker, not ambidextrous. There are four ports on either side of the slide and two up top. Flat black. I can provide the serial number scheme if this helps any, and a picture is attached.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

The trigger guard on that gun is unusual, and I think it would keep it from fitting in anything that could accommodate a standard 75B.

The barrel and frame look somewhat different, too -- and not at all like the Phantom series. And, if you add the Crimson Trace grips, which are slightly thicker at the top, you may have another issue to contend with. (Make sure it does not have ambidextrous safeties -- as that is incompatible with the Crimson Trace grips, too, without some extra work -- and parts that may not be readily available.)

Your friend may have to get a holster made LOCALLY (in Iraq).

He could get a CLOSE FIT on a plastic/kydex holster, and then use a heat gun to soften the plastic/kydex, etc. I've done that in the past. Heat it, and then slip in the gun, forcing the plastic to take a new shape before it cools. Heat it up again and make final adjustments.

It looks more like a Tanfoglio (hammer, tang, grip, slide, trigger, etc.) than CZ. It makes me wonder if it is a very old CZ (before Tanfoglio and CZ designs diverged), or some sort of gray (black???) market design.

Since it's been determined that the gun is a Turkish-made sort-of-clone, some of which have been based on the Tanfoglio model/design, rather than the CZ model (similar, but slightly different), there's a very good chance that the Crimson Trace grips WON'T fit this gun. (Witness grips won't fit a CZ, and vice versa -- at least the ones I had wouldn't swap.)

It is definitely NOT a true CZ-75, for parts compatibility purposes, and I doubt that much of anything (except magazines) is interchangeable with an actual Czech-made (BRNO) CZ.

You can determine some strange things on the internet.

If you blow the OP's picture up to full screen size you can clearly read:
CZ 75 tactical 19 Cal 9x19
Made in Czech Republic.

Standard grips and therefore CT MIGHT fit. I would want to get some regular CZ75 grips and see if they fit before ordering CTs from long long distance.

No chance of it fitting any CZ holster I have ever seen, the trigger guard is squarer than even a Phantom and hooked to boot.

I also downloaded and enlarged the picture -- but also saw that the Sarsimalz gun from Turkey was IDENTICAL to the one shown, except for painted-on markings. So you figure it out. (The CZ Forum has members/participants from the Czech Republic, and there has been no mention of such a tricked out gun, there, originating from CZ BRNO.)

Any gun assembled in the Czech Republic can use the CZ brand/nomenclature, and many have done so, even though they weren't built in a CZ-BRNO (modern CZ) factory. A number of CZs imported over the years, for example, were based on Tanfoglio parts, assembled (sometimes with some parts added) in the Czech Republic, and wore the "made in the Czech Republic" stamp.

That it says "Made in the Czech Republic" may not signify much.

The suggestion to try standard CZ grips, however, is a very good one -- and should help determine whether the CT lasers will work.

Everybody: thanks very much for the help so far. As always, I'm impressed. Mizar and Railroader made a very good catch -- those grips, in particular, look dead-on -- but the folks who've suggested Tangfolio have a case too, especially in the light of Walt's useful info about label usage. All told, I'm definitely going to do some more research rather than buying and hoping for the best. My local dealer is calling CZ on my behalf. That suggestion about swapping grips is a *great* one.

I'll let everybody know what more I find out. Thanks, guys!

My guess is that it's based on a Tanfoglio design that is imported by different companies around many parts of the world. Each importer has their own take on the same basic design (EAA Witness, IWI, Magnum Research, Armscor, etc.). As far as the shape of the frame and trigger guard, it looks very much like the Jericho 941 / Baby Eagle with the squared trigger guard, but with the dustcover and grip matching very closely with the EAA Witness.

It looks like a holster designed for the Baby Eagle or Jericho might fit the squared trigger guard. For the laser, if you have a chance to "try before you buy", Crimson Trace grips for the Witness/Baby Eagle/Jericho/MAP line of guns would be worth a shot. You may also want to look into a guide-rod laser.

If you really want to figure it out, your best bet would be to check out the CZ forum:
http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php

They have a section dedicated entirely to copies and clones:

Good luck!

Edit: The CZ Forum Clone board led me to this:

Tanfoglio Witness and Jericho (Baby Eagle) do not use the same grips. Since the pistol in question is a copy of Tanfoglio, there is a very good chance that grips for CZ may fit.
