My next purchase will be a CZ 75B in stainless. Since I can't find one locally and will have to order in, I need your input. Will I be happier with the glossy or matter finish?
I am a CZ guy and I would go with the matte . I love me some CZ's . All my CZ's are black but I would love a matte . Check this out I got lately , I added the TLR-1 ......
The shiny one is the most prestigious CZ75B. It's so well polished it looks like nickel-plated gun. With Italian hand-made stiletto automatic and mother of pearl grips it would be impossible combo to improve upon.
I like the way the matte looks. This is really a matter of opinions. I think a previous post was right, the shiny looks more "fancy" but the matte is just too cool for words, in my opinion of course.
I like the way the new matte finished ones look. However, if you're looking for a BBQ gun, the polished model with some mother of pearl grips might make quite an entrance...
In my opinion, the shiny finish definitely looks nicer. However, if this was a barbecue gun, I'd probably wrap it in a lint free cloth to keep oil and scratches off the finish when I'm not using it. If this is a "shooting" gun, I'd go with the matte. Either way, it's a CZ 75. You really can't go wrong. Good luck!
I would go with whatever you like the appearance of the most. The highly polished finish may be a little more susceptible to showing minor scratches, but that is about it. And if the gun is to be used for concealed carry, reflectivity of the finish is irrelevant.
Personally I do not care for shiny anything. Was looking at a 50cal revolver in gloss SS and to me it looked like the plastic chrome that is used on toys, etc ...too much. Same on bikes...too much chrome is just the wrong way to go. Has to be used sparingly.
Lead cloth is great for scratches on SS. Gotta be careful on my brushed SS GP100,though. Otherwise I'd have to polish the whole thing.
I think both finishes have their own attraction to them. A matte stainless finish to me is all-business; classy and elegant looking but in a decidely understated way. A bright polished stainless finish seems to belong more to the BBQ gun variety. Along with some fancy wood, pearl, or ivory stocks, this is definitely the exibitionist member of the family.
I would prefer the matte finish for a working gun, one that's going to see a lot of use in the field or at the range. The polished finish would be better suited for a showpiece gun; something you may shoot on occasion, but for the most part it's going to kept in rather pristine condition.
Shiny would be *my* choice between those; I hear some people not liking that option because it can show tiny nicks / scratches; personally, I think it looks good polished even *with* those (though I wouldn't seek them out -- just don't mind 'em).
My Cz-75 is blued; wish I could get one with Melonite / Tennifer hard-coated black finish. I suspect anything's possible with enough money, but I mean as a factory option.
My CZ-USA custom 75B Stainless was a great shooter.
I'd buy the 75 Limited Edition brusshed stainless with real deal
tritium nites, if i was to buy another Stainless CZ.
The new Stainless 75B mags are pretty awesome as well.
However, I think any 75B SS is a good way to go.
