What does a CZ 82 or 83 compare to in size? What about capacity of either versus others of similar size?

Only slightly smaller than a Glock 19 but thinner. CZ82 mags hold 12, the G19 holds 15. I think "felt recoil" is less with the Glock.

About the size of a G19, but way heavier. Holds 12 rounds vs. 15 of the G19, and 9x18 doesn't exactly compare to 9mm luger ballistically.

But a lot of people will shoot a cz-82 better than a G19. The grip just feels better to me, and the trigger is much nicer than any glock.

If you can shoot a glock well, honestly, the g19 is a better carry gun. However, if you're on a tight budget, or if you prefer all steel guns, or if you prefer guns with a hammer, or if you prefer DA/SA guns, or if you're a big trigger snob, the cz-82 may perhaps be a better choice for you than a g19.

CZ 82/83 are virtually identical in size and capacity to the Beretta 84/Browning BDA.....If you're familiar with those.

That is a bit of an overstatement. It is slightly smaller than the G19 and only a little heavier. I feel that the CZ is MUCH easier to conceal though as it is, as a whole, much thinner as well.

I weighed both just now. The Glock was 1.8lbs loaded, the CZ was 2lbs loaded.

As Fastcast said, the Beretta 84 is measure for measure almost identical to the CZ. The differences are, the Beretta is lighter by about 3 ounces and the Beretta holds one round more

Good point....I've mentioned it before, that everyone talks about grip thickness but these boxy, brick like slides on the poly frames, suck inside the waist band.

Just look at the pic Onmilo posted....Which would you rather have jammed down your britches?....Personally, I'd rather have a little extra weight, than a balsa/light 2x4 shoved IWB.

The CZ-82 is really NOT a small pistol... though it looks and feels kinda 'slim.'
Have a bunch of CZs and the 82 is dead-on accurate and has one of the sweetest triggers around.
With its size and 12-rnd mag, it definitely can work as a CCW gun.
My CCW pistola is the CZ P-01 and it's one of the most accurate and comfortable guns I own... and they are almost identical in size.
If you don't mind the 'slightly smaller' 9mm Mak round, the CZ-82 would be a hard gun to beat for price, quality, accuracy and dependability!
It's identical to the CZ-83 in specs and alot cheaper.
