i dont own a cz yet but im looking real hard at the guns i know i want a compact but i dont know the difference between the models i saw a po1 in shotgun news for $299.00 with extra mags at $29.00 i also saw rthe cz compact in 9mm for $ 400.00 i think was the cost how come such a difference inthe price ? does anyone have pics and opinions on all of the cz line help:cool:

I love my CZ's. I have a P-01 and 75B. If I saw a NIB P-01 for $299 I would snatch it up in a heart beat. I paid $460 for mine out the door. There are three compacts that CZ makes(75B compact, PCR, and P-01). They also make a subcompact(RAMI). The 75B compact has a manual safty and steel frame. The PCR has a Decocker and an alloy frame. The P-01 is essentially the PCR with a acc. rail for lights and whatnot. Definately check out the CZforum. There are alot of CZaholics on this board and the CZforum so you should get more responces than you ever thought possible. Here are my two babies.

He's confused the P01 with the CZ40P from www.jgsales.com. My local gunshow dealer beats J&G on CZ prices.

My understanding is Colt backed out of a deal with CZ and the 40 series is CZ making guns out of the parts they had already made for Colt. When they are gone they are gone and are being sold cheap in the meantime.

I've a CZ75B and CZ40 in .40 S&W and a CZ RAMI in 9mm. IMHO these are probably the best guns for the money on the market right now.

With the growth of CCW laws, demand for small highly concealable pistols has gone thru the roof. Add to this the extra engineering to make smaller than normal guns work reliably and higher costs is inevitable for smaller guns.

I have a CZ75 PCR which is a compact. It has an alloy frame and a decocker
which is why I purchased it. I heartily recommend this gun as I had only
positive results with it and for the price, it is an excellent buy. I have put over a 1000 rounds thru it without any malfunction. Others will tell you they have had similar experiences with other models. Buy it, you won't be sorry.
Best wishes!

Tony, be careful. I started out with a CZ-75BD 9mm. Then I got a CZ-75B in .40S&W. Next was a CZ PCR 9mm. I kept telling myself I could stop but I knew I was hooked. A CZ-83 .380ACP follwed me home. Then a CZ RAMI .40S&W. Don't get me started on the CZ long guns I couldn't resist.
CZ'S ARE ADDICTIVE!! Just like potato chips, you can't stop with just one. IMHO CZ's are the best value in guns today. You can spend more money on a gun, but you won't get more gun for your money.:D

i saw a po1 in shotgun news for $299.00

A P-01 for $299 ? I doubt that. Even a used P-01 is still going for $400 (thats if you can find one used) You must have seen something else.

I do recommend a P-01 being that's all I own at the moment.

no zan its the po1 in 40 cal if youll look in the add in shotgun news youll see it too and i m ordering mine this friday with 1 extra mag for the moment thanks for all the replies:cool:

The P01 doesn't come in .40, just 9mm, but like wally said it is the CZ40P, which is a P01 frame with a CZ40B slide, so it is a longer barrel than the P01. For the price though they are great so snatch one up while they are still available......if you want the true compact size though you will have to pony up for a pcr, P01, or the 75Bcompact, they should all be in the $400.00 range.......tom

J&G is currently advertising the CZ 40P for $299.95 which is a limited run made up of a P-01 receiver mated to CZ 40B slide. An extra mag will add $29.95.

Rumor has it that the CZ 75 P-04 will be a true .40 caliber version of the P-01 and that it will be available in the fall. If it comes about, that's my next CZ.

I don't see the CZ40 (any of them) on the CZ website... what is the difference between the CZ40 and the CZ75 slide?

How long is the barrel on this CZ40P at JG?

Do the CZ-40 have any parts unique to it's series or do it share parts with other CZ pistols? Since they are discontinued after a short life and the larger inventory of top ends are being used to create the new parts pistol, will there be replacement parts for repairs in the future?

advice: get one (heck, get a couple)

You & me both:cool:

CZ is my favorite handgun manufacturer. Every time I go to the gun store & pickup a new CZ the first thought through my mind is "Oh, heck...I guess this one is coming home with me too"

Currently I own a 75B Tactical & a .40 RAMI. My shooting buddy has a CZ40 & just picked up a P-01 (he paid $400 out the door). Just shot it on Saturday & it's one heck of a handgun. I'll definitely be getting one if a 40 version comes out. After that I need to get me a 97B as well:D

:( Just bought a 40P, didn't know it was a limited run , shot/don't shoot? I'd hate to kill the collectable value, but I love to shoot :banghead: I gotta go get the duct tape my head may just explode!!

Shoot your 40P and enjoy it. IMO, the 40-P is every bit as good a weapon as the P-01 and not that much longer than it. For concealed carry, there won't a a whole lot of difference. In the long run, it will certainly go up in value, mostly because it is so closely related to the P-01. The slide is SIG/Glock style with the squared ejection port locking lug making it more squared-off than the 75-styled slide of the P-01.

The RAMI seems to be an off-spring of the CZ-40B so parts will probably be available for a while, except perhaps for the barrel.

I figured that the slide of the 40P happens to be 14mm longer than the slide of the P-01. At $300, they are a real steal and if they do come out with the P-04, which will be in the $460 range, you'll get basically the same pistol with a shorter slide (sure, it might use the traditional locking lugs of the 75, but that's not going to affect function appreciably). You'll likely be paying about $10 per milimeter in length saved. Indeed, with the 40 being a snappier round than the 9, the CZ-40P might actually be a better weapon because of the heavier slide.
