MAGNUMMAN, how long have you been concerned that your "gun" was too short? Is this a recent thing or has it been ongoing thru your adult life?
When did you first experience problems with "short barrel length?"
I known, I know..... This is "The High Road." I quit.

N.M. Edmands:
It is time to check your reading comprehension. Please read again my original post, where I state that my measurements include the ENTIRE chamber.

I think that MAGNUMMAN has a valid point. I mean you are paying for something, you think you are getting, but are not.....or something....hehhh

But then again, it can be like Burger King claiming to flame grill their burgers. People still eat them regaurless (myself included). Flame grilling wouldn't make them taste any less sh*t.

Well, my theory is that CZ measures the length of a barrel after a few shots have been fired through it and the barrel has expanded from heat.

Makes sense, yes? :D

Magnum is right on. If they're truly flat-out lying, then they're beyond stupid, as they are a sitting duck for a class action fraud lawsuit, and I would hate to see that, as I love CZs, and own 3 (well, 2 CZs and one Tanfoglio). Not a waste of bandwidth at all. Rather, exposing which manufs can be trusted to tell the truth, and which cannot, is a very valuable piece of information to have, potentially.

Class action lawsuit?

Hmmm...

What damages/harm might a plaintiff claim as a result of his gun's barrel being bit shorter than shown in some printed/posted materials?

Lower velocity causing his SupperDooperPooper defense loads to fall underexpansion threshold, causing Mr Bad Guy to not fall down DRT? Only thing I can think of...
After all, if HK can put out a catalog showing cartridges loaded BACKWARDS in magazine on the FRONT COVER, anyone can make an error. Just as long as it's the advertising department goof, and NOT the excellent factory workers churning out these great pistols.

For years S&W has listed their J frames at 2" pistols, but are actually 1 7/8".
The 2" M60 in .357 is 2 1/8"

God only knows what we're going to do when folks measure .38spl find out it's really only about .356....

Good question. The answer is none. Therefore a traditional tort cause of action isn't there, as compensatory damages of *some* kind are an element of the claim. HOWEVER, they are still vulnerable due to consumer protection statutes in various states, that allow for set minimums of statutory damages for fraud/misreprentation, even when no actual damages can be shown/proven. This then lays the basis for punitive damages as well, for the intentional fraud in many states. Thus, if true, it's yet another thing for the class action plaintiff's attorneys to get rich from, while the class members just get a $25 off their next CZ purchase coupon as their award, as a likely potential typical scenario.

PS. Armoredman does list a potential alleged (actual) damage scenario, but that wouldn't fly in a court, due to lack of provability of causation - virtually impossible to prove.

Armoredman's tongue-in-cheek scenario: underexpansion. Underexpansion from WHAT standard? And, if you're shooting ball? Or hotter rounds?

I just looked at the Owner's Manual, and it shows that all of the "compact" guns have a barrel length of 98.5 mm. That is roughly 3.5". Looks like the hardcopy PUBLISHED materials that come with the gun (and which are available for download from the CZUSA site), and which can be examined in a purchase prior to leaving, are correct, and its just the website that may have problems.

I wonder if any lawyer could successfully argue that this was an attempt to misrepresent -- given that the materials that come with the gun show true measurements.

As PCRCCW said -- its a typo.

If the original poster made his his purchase decisions based on website specifications, he buys guns differently than I do.

This is a litigious society we live in, isn't it?

Walt Sherill:
100mm = 4". 90mm = 3.5". 98.5mm is NOT roughly 3.5". 98.5mm is only 1.5mm away from 100mm. 98.5mm is roughly 4".
