I've seen on several threads on this and other boards that CZ magazines don't drop free when the mag release button is pushed. I just dug my CZ's out of the safe and checked. On my CZ 75 BD (9mm), 75B (.40 S&W), and my PCR all magazines dropped free of the mag well with the push of the mag release button. I only have factory mags, no aftermarket. Does anyone have a CZ that retains the mag? Just curious.

This help clarify?

'Q: "Why won’t the magazine fall free from my CZ 75?"
A: The CZ 75’s and 85’s have a "Magazine break" to reduce loss of magazines, (the CZ 85 Combat has a free fall mag.). This "break" is a flat spring located in the rear of the magazine well. It can be replaced with a "free fall spring" or modified by a gunsmith. The gun should not be used with the spring removed.'

If you want drop-free mags you have three options:

1) Modify the existing mag brake by bending it slightly. This can be done with the grips off, mag out of the well, with a screw driver or something to bend or pry.

2) Replace the existing brake with one of the 85 Combat brakes. They are interchangeable, and availble from CZ-USA.

3) Remove the brake (CZ-USA's advice to the contrary). I've done this with a pre-B 75, and with a little practice you have no problems. Until you practice, its easy to jam the mag against the mainspring, slowing insertion.
