Does the pcr have the same frame as the p-01?

Are all these guns sharing the same grip "geometry"?

I am leaning towards a p-01.

The sp-01 would probably bring me more shooting joy but I am looking to enhance the compact side of my collection.

I like the feel of the p-01 but have not held the others.

What are your thoughts on these guns?

The PCR and PO1 are very close to identical, only differances is the PO1 is a forged alloy frame, the PCR cast, the PO1 has standard sights, the PCR a Novak style, the PO1 has the M3 rail, the PCR does not. The have the same frame angles/ergonomics. See this pic to compare

I haven't held an SP01, but if I ever get out of this hole, I'll get one.
The CZ-75B Compact is a differant animal than the PCR or PO1, being it has asafety, not a decocker, and must be carried either cocked and locked SA, or have the hammer lowered manually over a live round - not as difficult or dangerous as you might think. The Compact is also a steel frame, not alloy. The Compact is also available in a 40SW flavor, as well as 9mm - the 40SW version has the steel frame with safety, and M3 light rail.

Don't forget the new PO6 hitting the shores, the PO1 rechambered in 40SW, on the shelves very soon!

The P-01 is a good compact pistol. I don't recommend the SP-01 unless you want a range gun or competition gun. It's probably one of the heaviest 9mms on the market and when you insert an 18rd magazine into it.....well, if you are swimming you'll drown.

One thing I've noticed about some of the larger CZs such as the 97b and the SP-01 with heavy magazines is that CZ doesn't make a very robust magazine catch. When you load up a 97b magazine or a SP-01 magazine the magazines weigh quite a bit and the hold isn't as strong as it could be. I've never heard of the SP-01 having problems(so far), but the 97b has many stories of magazines popping out of the magazine well. When I owned a 97b I had the same problem which was associated with a poor feed ramp design. Apparently, the EAA Witness has the same problem in the larger calibers.

The P-01 seems to be just right for the CZ design and component strength. Mine has gone through thousands of rounds of ammo and been a great performer. The only downside to the P-01 is the combination of its super light weight and low bore axis. A low bore axis is a two edged sword as it reduces muzzle flip, but that recoil just doesn't disappear. Instead it is channeled into your hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder which you can feel with high powered loads. Over time, this pounds the joints and you'll see a lot of competition shooters suffering such problems. A high bore axis allows your arm to recoil in a more natural flexion motion which reduces wear on your body. The light weight of the P-01 also does'nt absorb recoil as much which makes stronger loads less comfortable to shoot.

Thanks for your input

My main curiousity is about differences in the frame and grip.

I really had not even thought about the different frame materials.

I just called a range and they have p-01 to rent so for the first time in my life I will try before I buy. And I definitely what to check out the recoil impulse.

I own a 75b and have been spoiled by it's steel frame and ergonomics. The P-01 seemed like the ergo's were even better.

The SP-01 seems like what I want if I don't BS myself but I think I have enough full size guns for now.

Thanks for the feedback!
