I went to the a gunshow in Houston last Saturday with a CZ P-01 in mind. Found a dealer with several CZs including a P-01 and a PCR. The PCR looked nicer and was a bit lighter. It also had a much smoother SA trigger and was nearly $60 less so I brought it home. It seems to be the same gun without the light rails which are not an issue with me. At the range it did fine and I'm quite happy with it. I think it's a classy looking gun that works just like I want it to work.

Looking at the pictures on czusa.com I noticed that the trigger on my PCR looks a lot more like the very curved one on the P-01 than the straighter trigger on the PCR. I read on another forum about someone wishing they could get that trigger on a PCR. So did I buy some kind of hybrid or a rebuild or what? It has all the indications of a brand new pistol. The date code behind the ejection port indicates it as being made in 2003. Anybody else have a PCR with this trigger?

Congrats on your choice of the PCR. I bought mine when it first came out and never looked back. It's my favorite!!
I can't help you on the trigger question as I had the trigger changed. I found it had sharp edges and it was throwing me off. As I recall, it was a curved trigger same as it's replacement. Try calling CZ-USA to get the answer.

CZ probably went to the PO1 trigger to save manufacturing costs - the PO1 is merely an updated PCR, anyway. I like my curved PO1 trigger - fits me to a "T". Good choice - get an HBE rig to carry it in, and some genuine Hakan grips!

The PCR is great. I've had one for several years now. Very accurate, 100% reliable. Its one of my regular CCW pieces. To me there is no need for light rails in a CCW piece as it just adds weight and bulk.

I like my PCR very much. It also has the more curved P-01 trigger. Ergonomically it seems the perfect carry pistol for me, small enough to easily conceal and large enough to fit my hand almost perfectly.

CZ has a history of modifying their pistols by mixing and matching whatever parts are in stock, that's why there are so many variations out there, and that's where the 40P came from. I guess with the P-01 being as popular as it is there are plenty P-01 triggers in stock.

Nonquixote and anyone else, Those grips look great and I'm tempted to dress up this fine looking pistol with some fancy grips but the rubber grips that came on it are just ergonimically perfect. I'm more into functionality than looks. What will I be giving up to look good?

If you get grips by Hakan, then you give up nothing for good looks AND durability. I carry my PO1 everywhere, and I can honestly say my Hakans look as good as the day they went on the gun.

They have a PCR at my local shop that I had the pleasure to handle and if I didn't have so many 9mm guns already I would have bought it. It feels VERY nice in my hand and the quality for the price is amazing.

The PCR didnt get the UPDATED trigger until 04, the straighter trigger was OEM on ALL CZs until around then. They used CZ PO1 parts on some of the PCRs as the PCR were scheduled to be discontinued when the PO1 was introduced...much to CZ's surprise the public outcry stopped them from killing the great little gun.
Hope this helps........you can get a PO1 trigger from CZUSA if you have a good smith to change it out.
Great gun...........nice choice. MY FAV. CCW.............Shoot well.

Oh man, don't tell me that. I can't stand the curved trigger on my 40P. I've been wanting a PCR for a while, so guess I'll have to get an older one.

Pistol grips are a very subjective thing, and the PCR's stock rubber grips did feel very nice to me as well, but I feel I gave up very little for the look of fine wood. The contour is nearly identical to the factory grips so the feel is similar if not as soft. I guess the glossy grips I preferred could get slippery if my hand was covered in grease or blood, but in normal use, including shooting IDPA in hot weather with somewhat sweaty palms I've never noticed any issues. The only issue I've had with these grips is that this pistol has been carried and used so much that I've had to have a few scratches and dings touched up from daily wear and tear.
