We can talk guns for weeks, and keep starting threads about This Gun Verses That Gun. Bottom line is, buy what feels good in your hand! And In the Cal. you want. What you think is a good value for the money. Will the gun you buy, be a desent investment? Can you re-coop any buy money if you totaly HATE it after buying it ETC. (AKA not a BIG Looser). Most Kimbers SELL REAL GOOD USED! XD's DON'T! Glocks sell CHEAP when Used! Colt's have a real GOOD Used Resale Market, Springers are only OK! That kind of thing!
Go to a Large Gun retailer, or a LARGE Local Gun Show, handle a half dozen of your top picks. ASK QUESTIONS THERE! Then cut the field of choices to 2-3 and look up on the net EVERYTHING you can find about those models. Check to see if the Company/Manf. stands behind thier products. If you have to, Call the Manf. AND ASK QUESTIONS There! Find out is Factory Parts are easy to get, find out about add on or if aftermarket stuff can be Found (extra Mag.'s? maybe grips, sights, ECT?) THEN ASK QUESTIONS about your now norrowed down 1-2 favorites on 2-3 forums, ask about known problems and THEN make a choice.
