Fella's;

Searched this & didn't see any recent information. Now that the RAMI's been out awhile, there should be a decent body of information out there.

I'm looking over the possibilities for a smaller carry weapon for the coming summer & the RAMI seems to be the leader. But, I'd like some actual user input on the gun.

Why the CZ? Well, it's not striker-fired, and, if I'm correctly informed, it has an ambi operating lever. Both are major value factors to me.

So, if the populace here would care to comment on reliability, price, comparative size, and/or any other factor you believe to be significant, I'd sure appreciate it.

Thanks, 900F

Foxmoor;

Thanks, that's a useful link for getting started with a numbers comparison. However, I've already been there. What I'm looking for is actual hands-on experience from people who've been using one.

My wife went through 4 revolvers and three autos before she laids hands on her new CZ-2075 9mm RAMI, as part of an advertising deal. She fell in love with it instantly. It works, and works well for her. My hands do not fiti it very well, due to the curving mag finger grove. One gent on CZF made a new one from a Peirce, and submitted it to Peirce for thier consideration, and never heard anything back. The 14 round mags with extension would probably eliminate the thing completely.
It is small and fat, but pretty easy to conceal. It has worked with everything we've fed it, and has decent accuracy for my casual shooter wife. She won't give it up, and wants another one.

Early on I had a .40 RAMI. I experienced "trigger slap" and it became uncomfortable to shoot more than 50 rounds or so. Recently, I got one of the new polymer RAMIs. This thing is super thin, just a tad wider than a Kahr, I think it is like 25mm. A nice little package with ambidextrous thumb safety. I haven't shot it yet, but am anxious. Good luck.

not much to add, yet

I just picked up a used RAMI in 9mm. The .40's have a little worse reputation for reliability.

I've only put 150 rounds through mine, on a cold day out back in my PJ's. The fit and finish on my specimen is very good...the double-stack + rubber grips fill my hand perfectly, and, for me, the size is perfect (two fingers between the trigger guard and magwell flare, pinky rides very comfortably at base of mag).

I like it a lot.

My RAMI review with alot of pics of the wonderful little size efficient pistol:

So the 40s have some reliability questions? Hmm... didn't know that.

I'm not totally convinced that the reliability issues with the .40 caliber CZ 2075 are not "shooter induced". I think it's possible that some people are not used to controlling the recoil of the .40 caliber round in a package that only allows for a two-finger grip.

RAMI

I've owned a RAMI for nearly a year now I think. I have the 9mm. It has functioned perfectly. No FTE or FTF. It has been known to throw brass at my forehead if I don't hold the gun just right. This started after more than 1500 rounds. Perhaps if I change the spring, this won't happen.
The rami is small but beafy enough to feel your hand (I have small hands) and displaces the reciol very well. You can carry C&L or half cocked or hammer down. The reach for the trigger with the hammer down is somewhat far for small hands but not too bad. I like the three dot sites as well.

I love CZ. I hope to pick up a PCR or P-01 some day. Try this site czshooters.com.

Sox,
My rami 40 also has the trigger slap, a most annoying thing. I contacted CZ-USA and they had me return it to Kansas City for repairs/rework. Will let all know how it turns out.

Do a search under my name and RAMI for a review from a few months back.

Or better, here's the link: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=183729&highlight=rami

Long/short: feels good in the hand, accurate for its size, good sights, decent trigger, great capacity for size. Downside: it's pretty thick. But if you want any thinner, you pretty much have to go to a single-stack like the Kahr (though the Kel-Tec P11 may be a bit slimmer).

IIRC, it's pretty close to the same measurements as the Glock 26, so imagine a cocked-and-locked, all-metal, version of the G26, and that's pretty much what the RAMI is.

I bought a .40 RAMI because it has the best features of the two
guns I have used for concealed carry for years. It has the "cocked and
locked" single-action style of the 1911, or it can be carried hammer
down, safety off, double action trigger like my PPK.
I ran about 300 rounds of various ammo thru my RAMI, and did a little
polishing on the feed ramp and the mag lips before I was satisfied it was
"CCW" reliable. It's the only gun I carry any more.
I have experienced the "trigger-slap" thing, too, but it's not really a problem
for me. I don't take my RAMI to the range to fire off 2 or 3 boxes of
rounds at a time. I put about 50 rounds a month through it, just enough to know that it is still working well, and I can still shoot it accurately.
Like every other gun out there, it's not for everybody. But I really
like mine.

I bought a .40 Rami early on. Unfortunately I did not do my homework. I knew CZ had a great reputation.

Turned out NUMEROUS owners of the .40 Rami had terrible FTF problems. I could never get a whole magazine through it without a round nose diving into the base of the feed ramp.

It was NOT limp wristing (as CZ devotees claimed).

It was not a ramp polishing issue (the round never made it to the ramp).

CZ would not recall the guns (as Ruger has done).

CZ would not admit a problem.

CZ finally began taking the guns back and tweaking them if an owner complained enough to CZ.

Someone finally figured out the problem was weak magazine springs. I replaced the mag springs and have not had any more FTF problems.

But the stronger mag springs prevent fully loading the mags.

Mine has become a safe queen.

I will never buy anything made by CZ because of their lack of customer support.

The 9-mm Rami never had any FTF problem according to owners.

Swear by or swear at...

I am a carrying RAMI 40S&W owner. Yes, mine did FTF when I got it. Did some polishing and spring changes. Now it is my everyday companion.

I thiought a fix for the .40 would be a 9mm RAMI barrel coverted to .357 SIG.

However, myself not having a .40 RAMI yet.

I decided to sell the barrel.

Now I have a Gunsmith's special RAMI barrel that for $30 might fit your
.40 caliber gun.

I'm told that the barrel fits, but won't lock up right.

That said. I only know of a few satisfied .40 cal RAMI owners,
but scores of 9mm owners that dearly love the chunky Mini-Z.

The only problem with the 9mm is that hyper-velocity loads
cause timing issues with the slide.

Fortune does show that one of the best loads (Speer 124 Gold Dot +P) works well.

Good luck with your RAMI purchase.

I carry a RAMI during most of the T-shirt season.

I've put more rounds through that pistol than any other I own, by a long shot.

I love it, capacity, reliability, accuracy and comfort are all there, plus my DA pull is SO smooth after 4.5k + rounds.

I got the Rami 2075 BD (decocker) when they first hit the U.S.
Here's the pluses.
1. Reliable. Mine has never had a misfire of any kind.
2. Great machining.
3. Good capacity. The BD came with two 10 round mags, the safety version with 13 round.
4. CZ magazines interchange. I have shot my Rami with the 20 round mags from the CZ-75 SP-01 sticking out about 4 inches.

Here's the minuses:
1. Too wide. It was just too thick to be a good CC choice for me. A PM-9 is MUCH smaller.
2. Long reach to the slide release. Why couldn't it be like the SP-01?

It has been known to throw brass at my forehead if I don't hold the gun just right.
That's funny. My CZ 75 SP-01 does that but not my Rami. I've learned to keep my mouth shut when shooting and wear a hat with a brim.
