Hi,

Is there a difference in quality between the two manufacturers? CZUB essentially owns Brno now, but with regards to the older Brno models, is craftsmanship and quality better?

I'd like to compare the CZ 452/455 it's predecessor Brno No. 1,2,3,4 rifles.

Also compare the Brno ZG47 and ZKK series to the current CZ 550 series.

It seems like Brnos command a higher price on the used market.

Neither company makes junk like some of the stuff we get domestically, just seeing what people prefer.

I have 1 Brno (#4) and 6 CZ's. The Brno mfg date was 1956, it has the absolute best trigger (4 ounces with no creep) a person could ask for. The quality of the Brno's are, in my opinion, a step above the CZ, but the CZ's are 2 steps above any of its competition.

If push came to shove and I had to get rid any of my CZ's or Brno, The Ruger 10/22's would be the first to go.:D

This is a complex question, IMO, and someone could probably write a book on the subject (if they haven't already). Also keep in mind that not all BRNOs are equal, not even among rimfire bolt actions, not to mention the semi-autos and the stepchild straight-pull ZOM. Re: bolt actions, the Models 1 and 3 triggers are very different from the 2, 4, and 5, the latter group being much more like the 452s than they are the 1 and 3. Some people like the 1 and 3's trigger, but some much prefer the 2/4/5/452 style trigger, myself included. Then there's the overall feel of the actions, the different stocks, and different sights. Tons of variables, to the point that I believe each person would need to evaluate the guns in their own hands in order to really know how he/she would compare them. There's a lot of wonderful old-school feel and quality in all of the above-mentioned models, though! I have a hard time imagining how a gun person could fail to admire any of them, and understand first hand how acquiring any one of them can lead to more and more until first thing you know you have a cabinet full. :)
