Hey everyone.
I bought a CZ75B recently and I must say I am really enjoying the gun. Surprisingly accurate, points well, CHEAP....
However, there are a few things I would like to change.
Is there a ready source for flatter/thinner grip panels? I tried the CZ-USA site but it keeps saying that the merchant portion is down. The grip is ok right now but with a flatter pannel I think it would be perfect.
Also, will the mags from the SP-01 work in the 75B? It looks like the grip may be a little different in the P-01 and SP-01 so I am not sure.
While I am on the topic of the SP-01, is this really a different pistol? Or simply a longer barreled, railed version of the 75? (Almost bought one, but know nothing about'em)
Long term durability? I had people tell me these are tanks and will outlast me.....but now I here about slide stops breaking and some foolishness about the stop having a 1,500 round life. 1,500???? Won't take me long to hit that number. Is this a real problem with the system or just an isolated batch?

Thanks for the help. Tried the search function but "anything" +"cz" will get you way too many hits....almost every thread.

Falnovice, go to google and in the search box, enter your search terms and add site:thehighroad.org. Much better than the forum's search tool.

The new factory cocobolo wood grips are very thin and very handsome - and they're only $52. You can also get them from Angus Hobdell at Ghostholsters.com for $50.

Take a look at www.czforum.com, too, for details on the differences between the various CZ pistols.

There are several makers of slim line grips. Look into Hakkan Pek. He does some great work.

I wouldn't worry about the slide stop breaking. There were some that had some issues several years ago, but if this is a new pistol you won't have to worry about it. I have WAY more than 1500 rounds through mine and have not had any issues.

They are definatly tanks and are boringly reliable. Enjoy it.

Along with those mentioned above, Hogue makes wrap around grips that are pretty slim, so they say. Pachymar also.

Yes, the SP-01 19 round mags will fit fine on the 75B's as will the 16 rd standard 75 mags fit the SP-01. The bigger mags just have a bigger floorplate/extension.

The SP-01 is a larger version of the P-01 which is an updated version of the 75 but with an alloy frame. CZ-USA has a great forum in the community section. Lots of good info there.

The gun will likely outlast you so no worries there and the slide stop issues were a long while ago and had more to do with slightly out of spec frame holes causing differential pressure on the stops vs problems with the stops themselves IIRC.

Go to www.ghostholster.com for your thinner grip panels. This is Angus Hobdell's commercial website. If you don't want to spend much, you can also get the CZ ergo grips that are a bit thinner than the factory cheese graters if you don't mind a molded 'shelf' for the thumb and index finger.

CZ 75 is a gun you can depend on to defend your life. Mine has been dead bang reliable, slide stops included.

The SP-01 is a different gun. Most parts will interchange, but the barrel is thicker on the SP-01, so the slide is also different but the same length. The ambidextrous safeties are also different than the CZ-75 Stainless and CZ-85 series.

I've never had any slide stop trouble myself, but some people do. Let us know if you break one.

Hakan Pek for grips.

CZs are excellent sidearms. I did just recently come up with a local supplier of no name CZ 15 round mags, older ones, for $10 each, but haven't had a chance to look at them. MecGars aren't much more.

I have 3 CZ's, CZ 75 Compact in 9mm and 40 S&W and a Kadet. The 40 does not like REM-UMC flat points but eats everything else. No problems with any of them really with a little over a 1,000 rounds thru the compacts and a couple thousand thru the Kadet.
