The VZ24 I ordered from Empire Arms finally came in today. Technically it came in Monday, but a snafu by UPS delayed me receiving it until now (long story with lots of expletives).

Anyway, I cracked the box open this evening and it is a sight to behold. The stock is in beautiful condition. There are some dings but overall the stock looks new. Bluing is incredible. I couldn't detect any blemishes.

I paid $189 after shipping. I think AIM is slightly cheaper, but I wanted to try out Empire Arms after hearing the glowing reviews by previous customers of Empire Arms. The condition of this rifle is immaculate. I bought this with the thought that I may use the receiver to make a sporterized Mauser, but after I saw the great condition it is in, I don't think I can bear to sporterize it. I guess I'll have to get a Czech 98/22 or a Mauser with a beater stock so I don't feel as bad sporterizing the receiver.

Man, now I'm looking into getting another 91/30 but through Empire. A Tula hex receiver would be great.

Must...wait...till...next...paycheck...Must...control...spending...augh!

I would have taken pictures but I usually leave my digital camera in my office drawer at work.

It looks like they cleaned off the Cosmoline when you handle the stock. Nothing rubs off on your hands or on a white towel. There is grease on the bolt and in the receiver though. I'll probably clean that out and regrease.

I definitely want to disassemble the bolt tonight, so I'll have a chance to clean that up for sure.
