In light of some states recent developments regarding gun control, I think the market may be right for a modern design cap and ball, for lack of a better term, black powder revolver, using modern design bullets, along the lines of S&W modern revolvers. What say you?

Not necessary. There are a number of "traditional" C&B handguns that work just as well today, for anti-personnel purposes, as they did when they were introduced.

Heck, I carry this whenever I'm feeling whimsical, or just born in the wrong century.

Black Powder firearms have a lot of leeway in regards to the law. However in most states I have been in, a concealed black powder weapon is still a concealed dangerous weapon. My son arrested a ex felon who was carrying a Black powder pistol, His argument was it was a non-weapon. The court said it was a concealed dangerous weapon and the ex felon is now back in his old cell.

I hate to burst a bubble, but concealed carry laws do not address the type of firearm being carried. A C&B revolver (or a flintlock pistol) may be an antique for purposes of handgun purchase laws, but for other criminal laws (concealed carry, ADW, armed robbery, etc.) it is no different than a Glock.

Funny thing Ron, if the con had been carrying openly he'd be walking around still... :)

How about the Starr Double Action cap 'n ball revolver?

The Starr?
That was introduced to the Union Army during the Civil War. No one liked it. They did like a single action variant that came out.
The Starr is an interesting old pistol but the double action mechanism is overly complex and ungainly -- especially so for a weapon considered for use as a self defense gun.

Legality aside, I'll soon be able to carry this li'l baby. It's on it's way.

54 bore ought to be able to handle most anything.
And for Velociraptors there's the 38 bore Dragoon size I'm picking up this afternoon

We seem to be missing a drooling smiley

I'll certainly agree that the Starr DA has some idiosyncrasies, but they can be overcome.
A little fine tuning of the action, learning how it operates, they do not like to be shot SA or put in half cock. Like many "first" designs, they had a few bugs. They are unique and draw a crowd at the line.
