Does anyone else find that they have maybe a gun or two that is maybe slightly uncomfortable to shoot due to recoil either being a big caliber or too light, but you put up with it because of it's intended usage?

Example: I shoot a 12ga shotgun and when I throw a sabot down it the thing thumps the earth, I swear I saw the ground ripple last time it went off. However I put up with it because it's for deer hunting and while it hurts to go through 10 rounds at the range I know in the field I'm only taking 1 shot at a deer in a 24 hour period so it really isn't bad in practical usage.

Oh and funny side-note: although I keep the shotgun I have been so successful with my crossbow that I've not taken a deer yet with the shotgun.

I can deffinitely relate to that. My favorite paper punching and hunting rifle's are the .270 win. and 7mm RM and they beat me to death. I'm a oler man and am small framed atonly 125 lbs. and 5' 5".

Yeah I'm referencing specifically a Mossberg 500 with 400gr sabot slugs down a rifled barrel. Man do they pound.

got rid of my 12 and bought a 20 ga barrel for my frame. Easier on the shoulder... never be used though. I'll keep it BP or .308 in that gun.

My mossy 500 kicked like a pissed off mule firing federal tru balls or winchester super X sabots....

That's the same with my 12 gauge 870 express with Brennake Black magic 2 3/4 ( bear protection when other game hunting one of us always has this ).

I push my recoil limit for fun. I like to take my PGO Maverick 88 and shoot hand tossed clays using my off hand. There is no practical reason I can think of for that exercise, but it's fun after a day of punching holes in silhouettes at 7-10 yards (pistols), knocking over shotgun shells at 50 yards (.22), or putting holes in the 9/10 rings at 100 yards (AR).

This can apply to handguns, too. Many people will say the same thing about some of the subcompact 9mm pistols, and the "keychain" .380 guns, too. But, they do have a purpose well worth paying the minor discomfort for. I felt the same way for a little while about my PF-9, but I've found that I have gotten used to it enough not to notice as much.
