If Trump is the best the GOP can do, it's a sorry, sorry state of affairs for the GOP. I'm hoping a guy like Ted Cruz gets the bid for the GOP and he uses the Latino vote to get into office.
You have to look at the bigger picture and the big picture is who can beat the choice of Hilary or Bernie? Let's run down some of the prospective opponents:
Jeb Bush- this guy is a wolf in sheep's clothing. He'll say whatever to appease the masses, but serve his donors. Besides Christie, he's the one guy who would most certainty support bills to curtail the second amendment.
Ted Cruz- an unspectacular conservative. I would be comfortable with him and gun control laws and other things if he was elected president, but he can't beat Hilary. Even though he's Hispanic, he can't win the Hispanic vote.
Chris Christie- Could call him Flats Abombino for how flat and horrible his campaign has gone. He doesn't inspire confidence in me with his record on guns, no matter what he says, it's what he does and prior to his presidential run, he opposed measures to enhance people's second amendment rights. He opposes national reciprocity for concealed carry and he thinks there are too many guns already in his state and it's led to the violence in his horrible cities. He's the worst possible choice in the Republican field when it comes to guns and possibly all other issues.
Ben Carson- I like him. A Great person who is not a politican, but when the chips are down, can a guy with a lack of a killer instinct go head to head with Shrillary? He's been very pro 2A, but he's said before he doesn't believe people in cities should own semi automatic guns... which is exactly what Bernie Sanders believes. Not very inspiring, but he's far from the worst candidate the repubs have to offer. He is a Black man, and it's been shown that most minorities don't support the second amendment.
Trump- he's said he supports an assault weapons ban, but he's changed his mind on many issues over the years and decades, mainly from liberal stances to conservative stances. The past few years he's taken a staunch anti gun control stance and I think he'll maintain that posture for good. Besides, he's the only superstar the Republicans can field and the average moron voter will like his brashness compared to Hilary's yapping.
You can roll the dice on all the others and try to get a full 100 cents on the dollar for your bet. With Trump, you might get 80 cents on the dolloar, but he's like a 1:1 payout at the race track because he's a lock to win.
