I need to replace the stock on a DAIWA AUTO 500, the "copy" of the Browning A5. Has anyone had this experience or know if the standard Browning butt stock will fit (with or w/o some inletting-fitting). ???
thanks, Oneeyejd: :uhoh:

Daiwa Auto 500 stock not available

Well, after 2 months of searching---I give up! None of the current stock makers have a replacement stock and none available on used markets. FYI: if you have one of these take good care of it. Will remove post at end of month.:(:(:(:

I wouldn't remove the post. Even the lack of response is informative to others who might have a similar problem.
Have you thought about trying an Auto 5 stock to see whether it fits or could be easily adapted. You might find that it works or that you could order a replacement with unfinished inletting that would alow you to get it running again.

I think a Browning A5 or Remington M 11 stock could be made to fit. Even Browning stocks need some fitting on other A 5's.

If it looks like an a-5, treat it like one. Only shotguns i've ever seen like that. Yes I know they were made by Rem and Savage also, but the ones of those I've worked on took Browning parts.

Daiwa Stock replacement ?

Thanks for reminder about "...someone else might have the problem and it can be informative..." Good idea.
However, fyi, the Daiwa has a "different" stock bolt arrangement (from the B A5) and the inletting from a basic A5 (Browning or Rem) is quite a bit different. In other words, an extensive inletting job. Still better than sitting in the closet.
I finally, gluded, drilled and tapped the stock in two places and installed brass screws. Refinished the stock (staining the brass) to make it "work". Structurally as good as new; back in service for dove season.:D
Thanks for comments.:)
