Dan Wesson - Razorback

Thought i'd share soom pics of my new D.W. Razorback that i ordered last December.

After requests from members at - www.1911.org - Dan Wesson engaged in building a 1911 style pistol chambered in 10mm.

Based on Colt series 70 model, Caliber 10mm. There was a limited run of 150 [mine is #004] and another 500 production guns.

The fit and feel is excellent, mine sports novack fixed sites and rear cocking serrations only. [There were other options that were made to the limited guns only]. The trigger is excellent, overall apperance is great. I ordered two extra magazines, which have the "Razorback" logo along with my serial # engraved on them.

The weapon was proofed at D.W. before leaving there facility. Load used was Federals 180 grain lead round.

That's a very nice looking pistol.

Glad to see someone going with the fixed Novaks over the Bomars. The Novaks just seem more practical if your Razorback will see CCW or duty use.

Very nice. I wonder if there is a reason they used the Federal
load. It has proven very dirty and inaccurate in my two 10MM.
Perhaps they got a good price on the ammo?


What is your accuracy load with your Razorback?

Jen recently offered me one of those (Bomars, no forward serrations) but I declined as the price point is a bit high, IMO, for the level of attention to detail offered. In my area, Colt Deltas can still be found for less, or the same if new in box.

I'm glad you got a good one, another RZ I examined was less than good... but then that seems to be a bad commonality with many of the recent production 1911 clones.

I wonder how the slide compares in terms of weight to the Colt Delta slide... If they are similar, a 20lb Wolff variable spring, on a full-length guide rod with a shok-buff might be a good set-up... It worked great in my stainless Delta.

9+19, This gun is fairly light in weight. It has a two piece guide rod with a shock buff.

I fired 5o rounds of Blazer 200grain TMJ with one FTF.

At 15 yards, two handed slow fire - all hits were either 10ring or X...

Going to a large gun show in Des Moines, ia Saturday, hoping to find different types of ammo to test thru this pistol.

Overall a very happy camper.

Looks great. I'd love to have been able to get in on one of those first 10 or so. Single digit serial numbers are something to have...

I haven't handled any of the Razorbacks but have probably handled 20 Wesson 1911s and shot three and all of them have been on par with the sub-$800 Colts, Springfields and Kimbers. To me, it would seem tha anyone that says otherwise has some sort of agenda or has one handled one poor example and is making a blanket statement based on that one.
