Ever since I got the durned thing I keep spending money. I got a Mosin-Nagant Tula 91/30. a Mosin Nagant Izzy M44, A Tula M1985 Nagant revolver, and just bought a Steyr M95 carbine. George's econimic stimulus package is almost already spent, and I don't even have it yet. I had to buy some 7.62X54 brass, some 8X54R brass, some British 303 bullets, some 8mm bullets, some 7.62 Nagant ammo, 3 sets of reloading dies, powder. Some M95 charger clips. My poor, poor wallet!

Note that the M95 doesn't use "true" 8mm projectiles, but uses .323" bullets.

Other than that, BOY do I feel your pain. This C&R FFL has enticed me to spend quite a bit of money.

Gangdog56 - Do you have to mail a copy of the C&R license to the CLEO OR does the ATF do it?? I was about to mail mine in, but am unsure on that point.

You mail one copy to the Chief of Law Enforcement in your area, whether that's the Chief of Police or the Sheriff, and the other copy to the BATFE.

mbt2001-there should be a second copy of the applicion in the package if I remember correct (or a similar form, either way,one should be pre-marked as being for your CLEO) that you mail to him/her he same time you mail the BATFE app. in. Most people recommend typing up a quick note of explanation to him/her that he doent have to approve/disapprove, sign or anythng, and that its simply a notifiation as required by BATFE. That way, he doesnt think he has to (or gets to ;)), approve the license. all it is is a notifiation that you are applying, and if he knows you are under investgation, or got a recent charge that would disqualify you, or anything else he knows that may not show up on the BATFE background check etc, that the BATFE requests he notify them about it.Otherwie, he doesnt do anyting. Probly not a big deal, as I'm sure most have been thru it before and know whats up, but you never know.

Oops, PTK beat me to it. Freaking keyboard/laptop is messed up, and randomly omits and/or adds letters when typing, so I have to go over it carefully.

I got mine in 2-3 weeks, but the average seems to be more like a month, or 2it seems.

I got my C&R just about a year ago. It took 10 weeks to arrive. Been a very expensive piece of paper.

Until you are buying the "5'fers", you've got nothing to complain about...:)

You can save money w/ your discounts from Brownells, Midway, etc. Plus who can put a price on getting historical firearms sent directly to your house.:D

Note that the M95 doesn't use "true" 8mm projectiles, but uses .323" bullets.

Got myself mixed up there. Those are the bullets I use in my Mosin's. I got the correct size bullets coming. Just got a news flash from UPS. Gun expected next Tuesday.

Took a little over 8 weeks I think for my C&R to arrive.

You have to mail to your CLEO. Bet ATF checks that you did, too.

Anybody know a source of milsurp in this caliber? I am going to reload, but a cheap source of already mades never hurts.

I got mine 13 years ago. When I brought my ATF app for LEO approval, the desk sargeant came to window and started talking about Swedish Mausers and K98's for 20 minutes.

It's an incurable disease. Don't bother fighting it.
