When is the last day for the Governor to sign or veto?
Might be buying some political capital with it. If he does let it go through he'll lose the POTUS nomination. I have heard he's kind of a left leaner when it comes to gun control issues. If he does have POTUS ambitions he'll veto it at the last minute for the media coverage. If he was going to veto it he wouldn't wait.
plus many large cities are anti-2nd Amendment, anti-gun whether they are Democrat or Republican
Can't think of any Democrat run cities that aren't anti-gun. Houston and Dallas can't do anything because of State pre-emption laws, but they certainly have tried.
Just got the NRA-ILA legislative alert that Christie VETOED IT!!!!!!!
Just got the NRA-ILA legislative alert that Christie VETOED IT!!!!!!!
“This is the very embodiment of reform in name only,” Christie said. “It simply defies common sense to believe that imposing a new and entirely arbitrary number of bullets that can be lawfully loaded into a firearm will somehow eradicate, or even reduce, future instances of mass violence.”
With his veto Christie removed all of the language related to the ammunition limits and instead replaced it with five mental health proposals. Among his recommendations is requiring a person previously involuntarily committed to mental health treatment to provide “adequate medical evidence” before being approved for a firearms purchaser identification card.
