In general I would say clones sell very well. Ask anyone who has a 1911 that isn't a Colt. In the case of the HP, there really isn't an option out there to buy one anymore unless you want to spend a LOT for one. I would think now would be a very good time to market a budget minded HiPower. I would snap one up in a heartbeat.
The CDs were very well received by the people that bought them. The problem was there were still a lot of FEG Hi Powers in the market that were essentially the same thing and sold for a lot less. Actual FN and Browning HiPowers were also still in production. In todays market there would be very little competition for a well built HiPower in the 400-500 dollar price range. The only way to really find out is for someone, ahem Armscor, to give it a run and find out!
