Stopped in to check on some ammo and they were pretty much out of 38/357 but had plenty of 223 in stock. Anyway I got to looking at the Marlin leverguns and their prices were excellent for this area, the 30/30 was on sale for 349.00 and the 45/70 was 449.00. I don't know what they sell for elsewhere but that price even beat buds gunshop and anything I could find on gunbroker.

Those are obama/biden approved firearms

ummmmm Okkkk........ ^^^^^

He said that since people are in a gun craze that the guns were placed at a lower price in order to be sold. Not too many people are looking at leverguns, but a lot are looking at black rifles. A levergun placed at a high price won't move.

Dicks has been selling the Marlin 336 with scope for $349 for years. It has nothing to do with the cuurent situation.

Makster- Seems like most of their guns are priced good, probably due to the ability to make their profit margin on other merchandise. We do the same at Home Depot by selling a lot of lumber products for less than we pay for them but make the money back 5x on hammers, nails, saws etc. Regardless that price beats all the local shops around here by 100.00 plus.

bought my last commercial gun at Dick's.

They lived up to their name...never again.

Their ammo prices are horrible.

$13 for a box of .223? OK... I'll just keep taking my Dick's mastercard reward certificates in and getting free ammo every 2 months.
I get 3.33% back in gift certificates for anything I put on the card. Which happens to be just about everything.

I never buy anything there unless it's with this monopoly money. The manager gave me such a dirty look when I used my certificates to buy a case of 9mm.

I agree with the OP. My comment was aimed at the people who said this had something to do with Obama. I think Dicks prices are great. I just bought a Remington 870 for $199. It was on sale, plus there was the mail in rebate, a $30 gift card for Remington purchases, and double Score card points. They are also selling Remington 9mm ammo for $8.98 a box if you buy 10 boxes.

Just bought 10 boxes of 9mm for that price a couple weeks ago as well; they have ammo 'sales' pretty frequently there.

Dicks does seem to have the best prices on bulk ammo, they beat just about everyone.
Just gotta keep an eye out for the sales.

armeuller2001- Depending on the brand 13.00 a box isn't bad, corbon dpx and hornady etc can sell for $25.00 plus. They had wolf for 6.00 a box yesterday and they had a pile of it in stock which is more than I can say for most places right now. You must have some great deals in your area to say that Dicks ammo prices suck, around here they beat wal-mart and all the local shops.

Obama and Biden aren't even in office yet, and NOBODY knows what they will do, or try to do, except for them. If they were to fix the economy, eliminate our national debt, and start giving away ARs and AKs, I honestly believe that some people would still be making negative comments about them. Like it or not, he is the next President of our great country, and the leader of the Free World; isn't some respect due? I'm not saying that they are the messiah of firearms, but give them half of a chance. I apologize to the OP if this gets locked because of this, as I am a big fan of Marlin rifles, having hunted with my 30-30 since I was 12. I hope to own one in 45/70 one day. Maybe Santa will bring one...

Tell me, why would i respect a man who has stated things in the past that go AGAINST the very great things that make up this country? Why would i respect a man who says the constitution has deep seeded flaws? He has to earn respect, and he gets that through the actions he does. So far i have seen nothing he has done that makes me like him, in any way shape or form. Just because the youth of the country has been indoctrinated by the media and dumbed down school system has elected Obama president doesn't mean i will respect him.

Why didn't you buy the Marlin for that price? Heck I'm half tempted to buy one now, for a little Christmas in November!

Dick's is a Sporting Goods retailer, and a savvy one. In my experience, each store caters to it's neighborhood. Some have pretty good firearms departments, some don't. My closest Dick's (about 30 miles) is in a trendeigh upscale suburb. It's filled with fashionable jogging attire (lots of pastel colors to match the Lexus or BMW) and spandex biking wear. The gun "shop" is in a walled-off corner and has a pathetic selection. My guess is that most of the yuppie and or dink customers don't even know there is an evil (gasp) gun department.

A couple of things about my DICK'S, The gun selection could be expanded. They no longer carry handguns, or handgun ammunition. :barf: They don't carry "black" rifles like Gander MTN does (only bolt/levers/shotguns/.22's), or the gun store 14 blocks away. The ammo is decently priced, but I don't get a discount on Guns or Ammo. Yes, I work at DICKS. I was sad when I found out that we don't get any discount on them, but at least I do on accessories. I know where I'm buying my first safe. :neener:

Bought my Marlin 1895 Guide Gun in 45-70 Stainless Steel @ Dicks..... they beat everyones price in the area by over $100:eek:..... i wish the one in my area carried some of the Savage Model 12
