3 people looking at pictures of firearms. Wife, 4 year old daughter, and myself.

M1
M1A
WOA .223 Pre Upper

I am looking to up my equipment for Service Rifle Matches. I doubt I will ever be the best there is, and I am wanting to just have something new to compete with. Currently have a .223 Colt HBAR. It shoots pretty good. Really good, but it is time to give a gift to myself.

The wife pics the M1 (based on looks). My daughter pics the M1A (base on looks), and I like all three. What I don't know is which I really want. I would absolutely love to have a M1 or M1A, but I am thinking that the WOA in .223 would be the better choice for service rifle competition. I have a $1000 budget. I figure that kinda leaves out the M14 clone unless I save more.

What say you? This isn't a which is a better personnel round thread. This is strictly for Service Rifle competition.
Please lend your input. Thank you.

For 1K you can get a service grade Garand from CMP and send your HBAR to WOP for a sight upgrade, free float tube, and trigger work.

AR15. Cheaper to get in a match configuration, cheapest to feed and much easier to shoot.

It wouldn't hurt to have all three though. Winston has an excellent point and that's what I'd do in your shoes. I've shot all three a decent amount in competition.
