I have the inside dope on an 18.5 inch chrome lined NEW for $200.00 shipped....

I also have a specially marked FA receiver WR#XXXX, WR = War Rifle....

I am having Ted Brown Build it and I have a "Super Six Two" Whamo Camo stock sitting in the safe. Collected all USGI parts over a 2 month period!

Found some killer deals....I also have a Smith Enterprise Gas Lock Ghost ring sight, like an H & K....Debating whether or not to use optics ie: Another Aimpoint since this will be a carbine length....

It does not matter buy what you like buy it and shoot it.
Just do not expect to do as well in learning highpower shooting in matches with a M1A as fast as the ar15 but its still fun.

If you do some matches with the M1A first and by the time you decide you like the sport then go ahead and get the ar15.
No big deal just don't think the M1A is less of a rifle in matches compared to a ar15 as the top shooters are not that far apart using either one its just most everone serious is using a ar15 now and it makes it hard to come out on top in those matches.
Once EIC matches do not mean as much to me and that I hope that will be this spring I am really thinking of shooting a garand in 308. and yes I do plan on placing when I do. Should be fun and good for a few laughs.

As they have all ready said from the rifle to the ammo the ar15 is cheaper to shoot and the life of the rifle is much longer and easier on parts.

I really do not care what it is if you shoot well you can shoot them all well and all things equal the best shooters will always rise to the top no matter which one you chose.

Only have about 600 rounds loaded for next year and ran out of powder but have 16 more pounds of N140 coming in Jan so will be back on it soon.
I do plan on lots and lots of practice this spring as I hate second place as it really sucks. I will become a very good off hand shooter. I just have to keep saying that over and over.

I've read that in a highpower aspect, the M1A will amplify any faults in position you have. I've seen guys riding the rifle in the rapids with the M1 and M1A, shooting the AR is a relative breeze.
