Del-Ton AR kit

I have kicked the idea of getting an AR 15 around for years. Only thing really holding me back was money... Now I have some money laying around and would like to start putting one together.
Before I was going to get a Stag upper but now I'm looking into a del-ton kit. Are theses good quality kits for finishing a stripped lower? Only other question I have is, should I get the chrome lined barrel or not? I won't use the gun for anything other than target shooting and I keep me guns cleaned so I don't think I really need the chrome lined barrel. Plus it should be more accurate without the chrome lining, correct?

The Del-Ton kits are decent quality, definitely not high-end. I would check out similar kits from Palmetto State Armory as the PSA stuff appears to be higher quality in most if not all aspects. (BTW, I have built a Del-Ton kit, and have a PSA upper waiting to test out.)

If your use is only target shooting then the chrome lining doesn't add much for you. It does make a difference in longevity and corrosion resistance, and for any sort of field use I would get chrome or stainless. You understand correctly that in general non-chrome-lined barrels are more accurate than chrome-lined, but the higher quality chrome-lined barrels will shoot better than most of their owners.

Del-ton is a good company and stands behind their products.

There are others also.

Chrome lined or not, is up to you and I doubt you can tell the difference in the inherent accuracy of either barrel other than peace of mind with regards to cleaning.

I have a carbine built on a DelTon kit and upper. My barrel is chrome lined. It has not been pushed really hard, but has probably had a case of ammo put through it in the four years I've had it.

Your intended use should be well served by one. It is a good rifle, and I really enjoy it.

Thanks guys, I'll see what others have to say as well but more than likely I will go with the del-tn kit. Putting the lower together will give me something to do one evening when I'm bored this winter.

Built a few Delton kits and used some of their uppers. Been as accurate and reliable as the other uppers I have used. On my pesonal AR I used a Spikes Lower DTI upper and put a Spikes Full Auto Bolt carrier in it. DTI is GTG in my mind.

Look at Palmetto State Armory for their Rifle kits,
They are great deals and better quality

You have to put together the lower/lpk, but honestly it takes no skill and no special tools, just follow guides on the internet

I have nothing but good things to say about my 20" government profile DT upper. It has a ~2K rounds through it thus far. With Black hills 52gr MHP ammo it will shoot nice 1.5" groups and slightly more than double that with Brown Bear 55gr FMJBT. Del-Ton is G2G in my book.

One hint, if you can hold off buying until the end of November, DT has their annual Black Friday sale and you can save 15% I plan on picking up one of their 7.62x39 uppers for a little pre-xmas gift to myself.

I've also had two chances to test out my PSA 20" upper so far, and it has worked 100% with no issues in initial testing. Too early to say anything about accuracy.
