Democrats HATE GUNS: They know that guns in the hands of honest people will make it more dangerous for those among them who will be "in power" to stay alive as they come to us to steal what's ours. So they work tirelessly to get guns out of the hands of all except for government agents. They twist things to say that the average person has no need of a gun, and if he has one, might "go nuts" with it as have many people who had illegal guns. They just ignore the fact that people such as the students who shot up Columbine High School violated more than 22 of their "reasonable gun laws" and those laws didn't even slow them down. Now they're losing elections because of their stance on gun control. The "Average Joe" who wants to be able to defend himself since the cops can't seem to defend him, is finally waking up to the fact that he needs to get rid of these people in order to be able to stay alive in a world where the government wants to disarm honest people while ignoring the fact that criminals will never disarm. They don't obey laws.
Al From, founder of the ultra-liberal Democrat[ic] Leadership Council (referred to as "centerist" even in the Washington Times) and Democrat Senators Evan Bayh of Indiana and Mark Pryor of Arkansas said the anti-gun image "perpetuates the ides that Democrats are 'cultural elites,' alienating them from mainstream voters (they are)." Now they're "avoiding the issue," hoping the public will forget they were ever against guns, as a majority of states pass law after law allowing individuals to be armed, and more importantly, with concealed weapons so the crooks can't know who is, or is not armed. Trying to rob an armed citizen is not a good "career choice" for criminals, and they know it. So more and more will go into other lines of crime where they stand less chance of being shot. Criminals with badges don't care. They'll shoot you anyway, and use the fact that you have a gun, even a legal one, as a means to "criminalize" you. Maybe we need to pass some laws limiting the cops' ability to carry and use guns. (Source: Article by James G. Lakely, in the Washington Times Weekly, 10/20-26/2003) [102803-2]
