My 1911 suddenly seems to be shooting low (not low and left, just low). This occurs at close range even and it seems to consistently low. I am thinking maybe my sights got out of adjustment. The gun has adjustable target sights. How can I tell if the sights are out of adjustment.

Shoot it off a rest or let a buddy shoot it to make sure it's the gun and not you.

Or, possibly it's the sight picture you're using.

How low is it shooting?

The bore is lower then the top of the sights.
So it would shoot a little low at very close range.
But not 2" low..

I'd shoot it off a bench at 25 yards and adjust the sights according to what it needs to zero it.

It also depends on whether you use a center hold, or a 6:00 oclock bottom of the bull hold.

I would agree about shooting it from a rest. I usually go at about 15yards myself. If it still shoots low from the rest you will be able to correctly adjust the sight.
