SA 1911 Sights: Novak Low Mount v. Adjustable Target

Have about decided to buy a SA Loaded for my first 1911. It comes with choices re: sights.

Plan to use for range fun and home defense (no CCW w/ it).

Query: What are pros and cons of Novak Low Mount sights v. Fully Adjustable Target Sights?

The Novaks are a cleaner, cooler look, but I want to be able to hit a few bullseyes, so do I need the adjustable? Comments on either?

I like the durability of the fixed sights for ALL defensive & competitive applications; for target use, I like being able to sight in a particular load from a particular un.

Go with the fixed. You'll still be able to nail the X ring with them.

I went through the same thing . I decided on MMC adj sights . They fit in a Novak mill cut . That way I can always change if needed . 3 yrs later I still use the MMC .

I have the Novaks on mine. Most of my shooting is at 25 yards and the sights are dead on. Adjustables will give you more flexibility.

If you're going to carry IWB, I would recommend either the Novaks or if you really want to go with the adjustables, either you or someone will have to stone the sights a bit to make them at least a little less sharp than your carry knife. I mean, they are SHARP! Both the rear of the front sight and the entire back sight.

I have carried my Stainless Target Loaded 45ACP more than any other gun (excepting my P32 of course) and once the sights were stoned down a bit, I feel completely confident in drawing from concealment.

I like my MMC sights. As was stated above, they fit in the same cut as the Novak Lo-Mounts, so it is not a huge deal to switch. All rear sights are adjustable for windage, but I like being able to have the elevation adjusted to suit me.

Not all ammo shoots to the same point of impact. In one of my 1911's two different brands of ammo of the same weight shoot 3" different.

You could get the adjustable sights, and once you have it sighted in, you could just drop a few drops of Lok-Tite on the screws to hold them in place. It kind of depends on your intended application of the pistol. I would certainly feel comfortable with the adjustable sights from Springfield, FWIW.
